Zambia soccer fans have celebrated the kicking out of Ivory Coast from the ongoing AFCON 2013 in South Africa as a way of shaming Mamadou Gaye that country’s sports analyst.

Ivorian, Gaye who is also nicknamed the Assassin of Abidjan for his over the top comments have had no good comments for the Chipolopolo Boys, the Zambian national team over the years.

This has not gone well with the Zambian fans. Last year he predicted a 4-0 victory for his country over Zambia ahead of the 2012AFCON finals in Gabon.

“No David and Goliath. The best team of the tournament called Elephants will win… The Elephants are going to make history by being the first country to win the Afcon without conceding a goal,” Gaye insisted according to goal.com.

“For me the most difficult game [for] the Elephants was against Mali. It was very physical and it was a West African derby. Zambia play the type of football that suit Cote d’Ivoire. Easy win for the Elephants,” Gaye confidently predicted.

But the Zambian team that were peceived as under-dogs in the tournament held Ivory Coast and the match ended draw but the later won in penalty shot-outs to left their debut AFCON trophy.

This year again Gaye had stated that Zambia would not make it to the second round saying the Africa champions will be eliminated in the first round.

Gaye also predicted that his country – Ivory Coast would lift the 2013 AFCON title.

The Zambian fans were not happy and today had an opportunity to shame the Ivorian football analyst after his team were beaten by Nigeria.

“Zambian fans dearly love (Didier) Drogba and the Ivorian team, but the nasty comments over our Chipolopolo boys from their own Mamadou Gaye below made their skin to crawl and instead today chose to back the Super Eagles. And for sure the Super Eagles are through,” Zambian Social Media Director Musamba Mumba posted on her facebook wall.

It is like this was an opportunity for Zambian fans to get at Gaye.

“When Zambia beat Ivory Coast Mamadou said Zambia was luck, I am wondering whether Nigeria is also luck. Mamadou Ivory Coast is useless,” stated George Chansa.

Another Zambia fan Nelson Mbulo made fun of Mamadou and said, “Where is your best team on paper?”

“I supported The Super Eagles despite their protest that led to the next Ref being nasty to us because this man is arrogant!” said Evans Mwewa.

While another stodge Zambian soccer fan Sizyongo Munenga posted: “pwahahahaha…wazonda (you hate) Zambia, wazonda (you hate) HAPPINESS yako…Thank you Nigeria…next is Ghana.”

“And I quote this Ivory Coast team no African team can beat them, they are simply unbeaten and fovourite in Afrique, Mmmmm (Mamadou) tell Africa again what you said, hard luck brother man……next time,” said Hockings Chibwe Mambwe, a soccer fan.

Its simple question! Where is ivory coast the so called favorites?..I don’t like a favorite tag. Ghana should win though. But remember there is no team to underrate. And I far as I know ivory coast has lost to Zambia in their last three competitive matches and so is us the Black stars.

  3. and so what? this is irrelevant reportage. I'm surprised i even left a comment. is this not a case of the looser who is happy to have company? GHANA VS BURKINA FASO MALI VS NIGERIA LEGOOOOO. says:

  4. texas says:

Mamadou Gaye is most useless and barbaric football analyst we have seen….so what has he to say about the elimination of his Elephants at the quarterfinal stage? How the Elephants became the best African team marvels me? they never do well at the world cup, they are under achievers at AFCON, under achievers at U-17, U-20, Olympics football etc, yet the big for nothing Elephants are called Africa’s best! indeed.

    • Kofi says:

U are too generous to call him an analyst. This guy is just an ordinary Cote d’Ivoire fan who knows nothing about the game. He makes the kind of arguments you expect to hear in a beer bar not on a serious panel analyzing football.

Ghana’s style of play is called Efficacy Over Elegance.(EOE). The eoe tactics stipulates that: Beautiful football does not win cups, but goals.

    • Redd says:

Massa why??? because of football a whole country is ‘a bunch of useless people’.We beg you.Today you are happy and they are sad;next tournament could be the opposite so pls respect the Ivorian people. They are our brothers.

  15. Fifa One says:

Redd you are very sensible person, i don’t know and understand some people who always want to insult some body because football, its a game and its either loss, win, or draw some day for your team. I dislike this M Gaye Guy, but then don’t look at him and insult the whole country like that. Understand that they are our brothers as well and some Ghanian’s citizens also live there as well.

  16. king says:

This chubby Zambian tlkertives will not mind their own business. What has Gh got to do with this. Shameful pple, Champions eliminated in group stage …. What a disgrace. This goes to prove that when we talk about African football, u Zambians are no where the pedigree of Gh. We have been in the Quater Final consistently for the past 4yrs with an impressive run in the world cup. Shut up when we talk#

  18. Leo (Lagos) says:

Eagles victory over the Elephants humbled all of us in Nigeria. We had rated the ivorians as having 97% chance victory. But after watching the first 15minutes of the game we knew we stood a chance. Here in Nigeria, we hardly believed these youthful eagles could do it. Thanks all Africans for your support for Eagles i.e. Zambians, Ghanians etc.

  19. The Zambian says:

Greetings people of Ghana. As a Zambian, whose team is out of the tourney by the way,I found it soothing to watch Ivory Coast lose to Nigeria primarily cause of this man. Truth be said, he wasn’t responsible for our loss but somebody had to shut him up before he utters more annoying and ill timed comments. You see the Ivorians have been favorites to win the cup at the last five meetings so Mr Gayes attacks have been immature and unwarranted because his team has failed. And I agree with one contributor who says “its time he packed” and left the business of analyzing football to professionals who aren’t ‘ethnically challenged’. But the bigger picture is for all of us to understand that this is just a game and I personally see no need why we should insult a whole nation because of the comments of just one person. We have Ghanaians in Zambia and vise versa alongside Ivorians, Nigerians and many other nationals so what we see being contributed is in sharp contrast to what we africans are known for. Win or lose, we are brothers and in all sincerity Ghana is a good side and I truly hope you will put a good game and carry the day

  22. Kao says:

Hi fellow Zambians, mock Mamadou Gaye as he is very nasty, but mind you Nigerain always fear Ghana. Mali will elimate Nigeria before Ghana sweeps off the Malian.
    Simply said GHANA 2013
    Cheers

  23. wambachi says:

Nigeria, Zambians are behingi you, the president is behingi you, first quantum, nafwantamo ka money. Zoona zoona guy, tiye nayo go go go nigeria, ukwa is behingi you

  24. shaka says:

God is zambian, shame on ivorians, they thought they were the best team in africa when infact not, God did not like the way they treated us ku Afcon, and for that fool gaye, shame on you why dont you commit suicide now that your team has been kicked out of the tournament? to tell you the truth, you are the worst football analyst have come across, drogba and your team wawawawaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa just wishing the other teams all the best.

  25. Ivorian says:

Mamadou gaye my foot….. We’re is ivory cost the best team in Africa my foot!Ivorianz go hug with your simigo looking type of a person. Shame on u pweeepweeeepweeepweeepweee.
