Zambian FA claims lodging Sudan protest on time

Posted On Wednesday, 27th June 2012

Zambia coach Renard Herve believes the Chipolopolo deserve the points against Sudan

AS Zambians await the FIFA verdict over Sudan’s use of an ineligible player in the 2014 World Cup qualifier, the Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) has assured the nation that Football House lodged its protest within the stipulated time in accordance with the governing regulations.

In allaying fears that the Football House could have presented its complaint late, FAZ vice-president Boniface Mwamelo said immediately the anomaly was dictated, the association’s secretariat was alerted and advised to lodge in a protest with the world governing body, FIFA.

Mwamelo said in an interview in Lusaka yesterday that FAZ general secretary George Kasengele confirmed that the secretariat had submitted the complaint within the time stipulated by FIFA regulations.

He said by the time the issue was brought into public domain, FAZ had already lodged in its complaint over Sudan’s use of Saif Ali Eldin Adris, who was red-carded at the 2012 Africa Cup of Nations, in the June 2 match.

Mwamelo said FAZ was cautiously optimistic that it presented a good case with FIFA but would leave it to the world governing body’s disciplinary committee to adjudicate over the matter.

Adris was sent off in Sudan’s last competitive match – the 2012 AFCON quarter-final match against Zambia – but the North Africans opted to use him in their next game on June 2.

Sudan won the 2014 World Cup Group D qualifier 2-0 in Omdurman with Adris scoring and featuring for 90 minutes.

But the Sudan Football Association (SFA) called Zambia’s decision to protest to FIFA over the eligibility of Adris in the 2014 World Cup qualifier as an act of desperation.

SFA president, Mutasim Gaafar told the Sudanese media that the complaint by FAZ was ineffective, not proper and a desperate act because it was allegedly done many days after the game.

Gaafar said if Zambia wanted to complain properly, they could have done so before the June 2 match or at least 48 hours after the tie which Sudan won 2-0.

However, SFA vice-president, Ahmed Tarifi said he would bear the responsibility of the problem caused if the world governing body, FIFA punishes Sudan over the use of Adris.

Tarifi told Supersport that he would bear the responsibility and also resign from SFA.

The SFA board held a long meeting at their headquarters about the problem and Tarifi told them that he would sack himself and they accepted that for now.

FIFA has indicated that it needs a bit of time and receive more information before making a decision over the matter.

Sudan are hoping that FIFA only slap them with a fine and not dock them points. If found guilty, Sudan would forfeit the match points and considered to have lost 3-0 and also pay a minimum fine of 6,000 Swiss Francs.

Its not a claim. its the truth. unlike the GFA who were making fake claims against Zambia. our FAZ kept quiet as not to excite fans.

1 thing for sure is that Kalusha is of the members of a Fifa special committee who made the rules for Brasil 2014 which stipulates that a complaint is supposed to be lodged in within 72 hrs after the game . These are rules and contradict with the general fifa rules . Do you think Kalusha wud have forgotten about something he was part of ? Nah ,the Zambia FA is too smart to make such a grave mistake . The complaint was forwarded through a rigistered mail which can even take 3 weeks to reach europe . Fifa has clearly indicated that a registered mail should be used .The Zambian FA avoided the issue being politswd by zambian jornalists . It was even premature for some Ghanians and Sudans to claim the complaint was lodged in late when ts only Zambian FA who had actually information as to when they posted the mail to Zurich.

  11. Good Guy says:

One thing that is very clear is that Zambia is currently living in its destiny..I can assure our good friends, the Ghanaians, its a fact FIFA is giving us the 3points but we are also coming to wire you in Kumasi or Accra if you like. Its simply Chipolopolo’s time, you had your time and we in Zambia to be particular supported you passionately, but this time you have to do what we did…its heartbreaking but i guess you just have to blow the vuvuzelas for us.

  12. one andy says:

why do you folks at GSN just keep writting about us only? Are we not in the same group with Lesotho and Sudan. Can you please write on any of these two than subjecting us to unnecessary insults from your country men who feel so offended by the mention of Zambia?

  13. pedro says:

You ghanians should get upset with Sudan’s brainless act of fielding an ineligible player not us..! if FIFA gives us the points,u know you are pretty much fxxked because we ain’t gona let u off the hook, that i can promise you..so you kids will have to run along on the sidelines while we,the champions do our thing on the pitch in Brazil..

  14. Nigerian says:

Ghana is a shame to west african kindness. What sudan did, is like drinking poison, thinking Zambia should die. Ghana wake up, every game has rules. 21. Mims says:

So these zombies want to go to wc on a silver platter? So if fifa doesn’t dock pts frm these zombies what makes u tink u can make it to d wc?

  22. Fiifi, Berlin says:

Ghanaians should put this matter aside and consentrate on the matches ahead! This whole discussion is intended to distract the attention of the ghanaians. Forget about the zambians and focus on the remaining matches. The second intention is to prevent the Black Stars from from taking the other teams serious (inadequate and proper preparation which could be catastrophic for the BS). Don’t forget their coach was LeRoy’ Assis in Ghana and is leading this psychological game and tricks against the BSs! Put Zambia in the meantime in the sea and pay more attention to the other teams in the group.THIS DISCUSSION IS AT THE MOMENT COMPLETELY IRRELEVANT AND A WASTE OF TIME. IT DOES NOT HELP US IN ANYWAY. IF ANYTHING AT ALL THE COACHES SHOULD GET THE VIDEO ON THAT MATCH AND STUDY THE STRATEGY USED IN BEATING THE ZAMBIANS-THERE IS A LOT MORE TO GAIN FROM THAT VIDEO THAN THE INSULTS AND UNNECESSARY DISCUSSIONS ON WHETHER A COMPLAINT WAS LODGED IN TIME OR NOT!! THIS IS NOT THE FIRST TIME THIS STRATEGY HAD BEEN USED; BEFORE THE AWAY MATCH , ALL SORTS OF STORIES WERE THROWN INTO THE MEDIA TO MAKE THE ZAMBIANS LOOK HARMLESS , THIS MADE THE BLACK STARS A BIT COMPLACANT-THE REST OF THE STORY WE KNOW!!!

  23. one andy says:

can any Ghanaian tell me what action they could have taken if it were them who encountered what the Sudanese did?Could they have kept quiet and fold their arms? Why are you so bitter about this issue u Guys.Honestly i dont understand your frustrations in all this yet the culprits THE SUDANESE are quiet and busy praying

  24. Alex says:

After the taste of one victory at Africa football stage Zambians now think it is their right to flock on Ghanaian site to rain insults.Playing two games and still lying at number 3 with even difficult teams to face should be a thing of concern.
We have seen teams like Greece winning the european cup a few years back and since have faded away.My Zambian Brothers, take a good look at good football nations and you will find that you are just a flash, sorry. You will be faded away soon.In Africa countries like Ghana,Nigeria,Cameroon,Ivory coast,Egypt e.t.c are the football power house and so shall it be even if they are missed out for a while. In Asia Brazil,Argentina will remain the football power house and that is the fact even if they are missed out for a while. You will soon see this point i am making. You might be surprise to see that the your one one projection against Ghana some weeks back could be your last
victory. And as to Ghanaians i think you don’t need to talk, you already know what Ghana is capable of in football. The Zambian case is like a village lizard, when if sees a zinc roof it climbs repeatedly up and down.Live them, they will soon be vanished from this site in shame.

  25. Alex says:

I mean your one goal projection

  26. Jackson says:

  27. Zambian says:

Its our now tradion ;Zambia 1: Ghana 0 kekkekeee

  28. kandi says:

Let met set the record straight!

Zambia is getting her 3points from Sudan period!
Zambia is winning against ghana period.
Zambia is going to the world cup, not ghana period!
    Gsn is Zsn period!
So diss all you like, provoke all you want and insult all you want, these are facts PERIOD!

  29. The time Ghana won the AFCON I was not born. I now have a son and wuz doing nursery almost stating grade one. I have never seen Ghana triumph at any afcon tononamnet. Been watching soccer since 1994 wen I was 10. I have seen Zambia win the afcon (wich I can even go and see 2moro) cam out second and 3rd. That is a GUD record only egypt, cameroon, southafrica and nigeria can better or equal that record (in ma life time). So a team called a power house of football in the 80′s is not in ma generation. Wake up ghanaians!

  30. Forgive & Forget says:

Soccer is meant to unity people. But what is happening is totally opposit.

  31. BADU says:

IF ZAMBIA WINS THE PROTEST, SUDAN PLAYS IT SOFT IN THE NEXT 2 MATCHES GHANA. ZAMBIA STOP JUBILATING U CAN’T QUALIFY.
sudan will not play it hard against GHANA for to qualify on a silver platter. AND IF U THINK GHANA WILL STAY AT HOME AND LOSE IN KUMASI FOR THE FIRST TIME against u then forget it. ZAMBIA CANNOT QUALIFY PERIOD!

  32. BADU says:

HOW MANY SEMIS HAVE ZAMBIA PLAYED SINCE 1990? WHAT ARE THE RECORDS?
    STOP FOOLING YOURSELVES ZAMBIA.
WELL, IT IS EASY TO TICKLE YOURSELF AND LAUGH, SO CONTINUE FOOLING URSELVES. imagine GHANA against zambia in kumasi, with GHANA needing a win to progress, and the 50,000fan all singing AWURADE KASA at the stadium before the match. i swear the zambian players will pee in their pants! zambia go ask S.A what happened the last time they played GH under SUCH atmosphere.

    • A*S*E*M says:

Word up Badu Word up heheheh….!

    • MUSONDA says:

ZAMBIA IZ NT SOUTH AFRICA ,the 50’000 fans will leave stadium in fascination of the CHIPOLOPOLO N disappointed wth the BLACK STARS.

      • CHIPOpolopolo says:

@ Badu or Badoho are u sure there is a 50,000 seater stadium in Kumasi???? Better than the one we hav here in Ndola??? I dont think so!!!!!! Ghana 0: Zam 1 shhhhhhii dont tell them!!! kikuikikikikikikkiii!!!!

    • Jude Moraes says:

Badu Zambia has been to the Semi’s 3 times since 1990, In 1994 we were runners up, in 1996 were were in 3rd position, after beating Ghana in the 3rd and 4th play off. And in 2012 AFCON winners. We were also in the Qfinals in 1992 (we lost to Ghana) and in 2010 (we lost to Nigeria). If my calculations are correct since 1990 Ghana has only been in the semis 5 times, 92,96,2008,2010 and 2012, the different between Ghana and Zambia since 1990 is 2 semis, 1 AFCON trophy.

  33. ghanaman says:

Who cares we will win the rest of our matches and that will see us though.

  34. Fredo says:

You Ghanaians fascinate me,pliz before you open your dull mouths check the records between Zambia vs Ghana games.why do you think Zambia is the top seed @afcon 2013 qualifiers you morons?? Some are even syin sudan wil beat us @ hom hehehe, ask your players how difficult it is playin us on neutral venue, now playin us @ hom is next to suicide.we lost to sudan coz we underated them.we hv lernt our lesson.so even tho we know we can beat Ghana anytime anywher,we shall not underate Ghana in accra or kumasi jus coz they re underdogs.

  35. peter zimba says:

God awards those who help themselves, thank u sudan for the kick back.lesotho our neibor broz o us 6points.ghana yo frustration on this mata is unfounded
for.we’re comin to accra fo da 3points.viva chipolopolo

  36. theprince says:

Is only a matter of time that these zambians will realise they are never our class in any angle, even the big horns in world football shows some respect to ghana.
At part from kalusha which other zambian player has gain international recognition, only a half full cup that you ppl won recently?apuuuu

  37. mulenga says:

@ the prince. please name is ghanian striker who has scored 107 goals in one season and was honored by FIFA for it. none? well in zambia we have godfrey ucar chitalu. and if you think it was a fluke, 2 of those goals came against hearts of oak. and if you say that it was a longtime ago, then you are also agreeing with Zambians who dont consider ghanas past afcons. after all it was some of the same hearts players who won the afcon in 78 and 82 right?

  38. Zambia is the Best says:

Ghana, what success are you talking about? Bring the facts. Just accept that Zambia are champions, and when FIFA gives them 3 points, then forget about Brazil 2014. When you talk about players, football is not about names. Names dont win matches, but teamwork. Egypt is a good example. They won the AFCON for three consecutive tournmants with local players. Ghana is simply useless.

  39. shax says:

meyb zambia wil luz in kumasi,bt loosing against sudan pa zed is a lie,jst wait for 2018 pliz, and stop insulting each other u pipo, let tha best time go to brazil

  40. Jackson says:

I respect ghana, our players respect th black stars no wonda thy tak evry game seriously,bt yo players dnt respect th bulets,th score wil owez b zam 1,ghan 0,until u respect us nd accept that yesterday is history,o! I omost 4got,2014 is ours, even if u use juju in kumatsi, sory ghana.
