Zambia midfielder William Njobvu says their 2014 Fifa World Cup Group D clash against Ghana will not be easy.
The Israeli-based enforcer said despite the absence of midfielder Andrew Ayew from the team through injury, Zambia would need to be wary when they host the Black Stars at the new Levy Mwanawasa Stadium in Ndola on June 9. He said Ayew’s absence from the team won’t devalue Ghana’s potency of overrunning the Chipolopolo boys when the two clash next month. “I think with or without Andre, Ghana will be a tough opponent,†Njobvu said
“ What is important is preparations; mentally and physically we have to be ready because it’s not going to be easy,†he said.
Ayew will be out for three months after undergoing surgery a week ago that has ruled him out of Ghana’s June 2 game against Lesotho and the June 9 trip to Zambia in the 2014 World Cup Group D qualifiers.
The two teams’ last meeting was at the just ended Africa Cup in Equatorial Guinea in the semi-finals that Zambia won 1-0 in Bata and Njobvu missed the tournament because of an injury suffered a few weeks before the event.
