Zambia were denied entry to the Baba Yara Stadium to hold their final training session ahead of the deciding 2014 World Cup qualifier against Ghana for arriving late.
The Chipolopolo team had arrived in Kumasi at almost 3:10 pm (local time) – almost an hour and a half later than originally scheduled.
The team however had the chance to use their allotted one-hour training time at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium which was supposed to start at 4pm (local time).
The Black Stars – the home team – were then to follow with their final training session at 5pm (local time).
Zambia however failed to get to the stadium on schedule – only to arrive at the tail end of the Black Stars training session.
Their team bus were hooted at by the fans gathered and ultimately turned away from using the pitch at an unapproved time.
The Zambians have been crying foul ever since they were rightfully denied permission to land their private chartered flight directly at the non-international Kumasi airport.
The side therefore delayed their arrival by a day in order to comply with regulations of the Ghana aviation authorities.
Coach Herve Renard thus loses the opportunity to make a last minute assessment of his players before naming his starting eleven to face Ghana in the expected gruelling encounter on Friday.
