Zamalek complain about Golden City Park ahead of Champions League visit

Posted On Friday, 1st June 2012

The Berekum Golden City Park

Zamalek board member Ibrahim Yousef has slammed the standard of the Golden City Park in Berekum ahead of next month’s CAF Champions League Group stage.

The five-time champions face Berekum Chelsea on July 7 in their opening Group match.

The mini-size Golden City Park has seen massive renovation and is being put into good shape.

But Zamalek officials have questioned why the edifice was approved by CAF.

“The pitch is incredible, how the teams can play there is beyond me and Caf must find another one,” Yousef told Supersport.com

“Al Ahly and Zamalek must talk with CAF about this not just for our safety but for that of all players. They have very good pitches in Ghana where they hosted AFCON 2008, so it is not as if alternatives don’t exist.”

I told some of you forumers so! That Berekum City Park was not up to internationally accepted standards. Please put your Bono pride aside and host such important matches at any of the accepted sites such as Kumasi,Obuasi, Tamale,Sekondi and Accra.By the way Isaac, remember this is not Ghana GFA or Ghanaian authorities who will decide where matches of such importance should be played so calm down. Go Berekum Chelsea!
