Striker Richmond Boakye-Yiadom believes Asamoah Gyan is the right man to be installed as Ghana captain.

The 19-year-old has no doubts about the leadership qualities of the Al Ain striker ahead of the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations.

Boakye-Yiadom, signed by Juventus in the summer but on loan to Serie B side Sassuolo, believes Gyan can help end Ghana’s trophy drought.

”I believe he is the right candidate and our chances of winning the trophy at South Africa 2013 [AFCON] has never been brighter,” he said.

”I believe he is the right man and that means the GFA [Ghana Football Association], the Black Stars Management Committee and the technical framework displayed great vision.”

“He is fit-for-purpose because we all know is loves football and gives in 100% of his effort and at the same possessing great experience, humour and respect.

“Why shouldn’t we be pleased and hopeful after his appointment by coach [Akwasi Appiah]?”

Boakye-Yiadom celebrated his goal for Ghana on his debut in the 1-1 draw with China by running to Gyan who was on the bench.

I LIKE THIS GUY. NOT PONLY BECOS OF HIS HEIGHT AS A STRIKER, BUT BCOS HE HAS KNOWLEDGE FO AFRICAN SOCCER AND WILL DO WELL AT AFCON. THE ONLY REASON WHY HE ISNT AT JUVE IS BCOS THE OTHER ITALIAN PLAYERS ARE GETTING FAVORED. NOT BCOS THEY R BETTER THAN YIADOM, BUT BCOS THEY R WHITE ITALIANS, PERIOD. AA SHOULD INVITE YIADOM TO AFCOM. LIKE HOW YOUNGSTERS LIKE WILKSHIRE, ROONEY, WELBECK ETC WERE INVITED BY ENGLAND FOR MAJOR COMPETITIONS.
OUR STRIKERS…AFFUM, YIADOM, GYAN, CLOTTEY…PLAY DEDE AS A STRIKER OR ATTACKING MIDFIELDER

  2. Ghfuo think big, it hurts me always 2 hear u recommend strikers like Affum 4 a place in de BS team. Wat has Affum achieved in football as a striker? Playin in dat abonkele egyptian league, n u consider him over waris who’s making waves in europe? (sweden). Can u compare de egyptian league 2 de swedish allvenskan in terms of competitiveness? Massa, u ar just a mere fan of football. Karikari wil even be considered over Affum. Check dis out: gyan, waris, clottey, yiadom, jordan, karikari n would-be gh striker, karim berlarabi. Fantastic strikers 4 Gh.

you again. u seem to not have a brain in your head my friend, but just liquid. i have explained this to you TIME AND TIME AGAIN, BUT YET. U CONTINUE TO PESTER ME WITH THE SAME QUESTION. THIS WILL BE THE FORST AND LAST TIME I EVER TOUCH ON THIS ISSUE AUDA.
THIS ABONKELE EGYPTIAN LEAGUE YOU SPEAK OF IS THE SAME LEAGUE/NATIONAL TEAM THAT WON THE AFCON CUP 3 TIMES, RIGHT? HOW MANY TIMES HAVE AHLY WON THE CHAMPS LEAGUE IN AFRICA?
NO U ARE A MERE FAN. U DONT UNDERSTAND NOR APPRECIATE THE COMPETITVE ASPECTS OF SOCCER. HOW CAN U U PUT ANY CREDIBILITY ON THE SWEDISH SOCCER LEAGUE? SWEDISH HOCKEY LEAGUE IS ACTUALLY MORE COMPETITIVE THAN THEIR SOCCER LEAGUE, IN CASE YOU DONT KNOW. DO YOURSELF A FAVOR AND GO PN YOU TUBE AND WTCH SOME OF WARRIS’S GOALS IN THE SWEDISH LEAGUE. U WILL LAUGH. MY FRIEND, EVEN THE SWISS LEAGUE IS MORE COMPETITIVE THAN THE SWEDISH LEAGUE. HOW MANY SWEDISH TEAMS HAVE EVER PARTICIPATED IN THE UEFA CHAMPS LEAGUE? HOW FAR DID THEY GO?

LISTEN IM DONE TALKING WITH U ON THIS ISSUE. I HAVE REALISED U ARE NOTHING BUT A DEMENTED FOOL WHO LACKS COMMON SENSE REASONING…WAT DID JORDAN DO AT AFCON 2012? WHO IS KARIKARI AND WAT HAS HE DONE? BELARABI? LOL..U THINK ANYONE CAN JUST GET UP AND COME AND SUCCED IN AFRICAN SOCCER? GO AND TALK TO ADOMA, TAKYI, KP BOATENG, JORDAN AYEW AND THEY WILL TELL YOU. WARRIS NEVER PLAYED COMPETITIVE SOCCER IN GH. HE CAME FROM THE RIGHT TO DREAM SYSTEM AND WENT STR8 TO SWEDEN.IF HE WAS SUCH A TALENT, WOULDNT HE HAVE OPTED TO A BETTER LEAGUE, THAN SWEDEN, LIKE MOST GH PLAYERS WHO HAVE PREVIOUSLY PLAYED IN THE GH PREMIER LEAGUE? I COMPARE WARRIS TO FREDDY ADU. WARRIS HAS TALENT, BUT HE HAS TOO MUCH TALENT THAN MOST PLAYERS IN THE SWEDISH LEAGUE AND DAST WHY HE IS SUCCESSFUL. LET HIM GO TO RUSSIA AND YOU WILL SEE. THE RUSSIAN LEAGUE IS OBVIOUSLY MORE COMPETITIVE THAT THE SWEDISH LEAGUE. THERE IS NO WAY WARRIS WILL SCORE IN BUNCHES LIKE HE IS DOING ON SWEDEN, AND DAT IS A FACT. WARRIS CANT EVEN SCORE PROFUSELY IN THE PREMIER LEAGUE OR THE EGYPTIAN LEAGUE. MEANWHILE, DO SOME RESEARCH ON AFFUM AND SEE WAT HE WAS ABLE TO DO WITH HEARTS OF OAK AND SMOUHA.
