Frederich Acheampong is aiming to become a bigger star than his older brother Frank Acheampong after winning the MTN FA Cup Discovery of the Year award.

The 18-year-old beat competition from Medeama’s Joseph Gordon, Mighty Jets’ Emmanuel Laryea and Ben Arthur of Amidaus Professionals to land the prestigious award on Saturday night.

The ex Ghana U17 player wants to do better than his brother who plays for Â Anderlecht and helped the Ghana U20 team win bronze at the FIFA U20 World Cup earlier this year in Turkey.

Now playing for Ghanaian second tier club Rainbow FC, Frederich is looking to move onto greater heights - surpassing the no mean achievement of his elder brother who has been called to the Black Stars team for Friday’s deciding 2014 World Cup qualifier against Zambia.

“I would really want to excel more than him (Frank),” he told Metro941.com.

“Only God knows best and so I am hoping to do more than he is doing. This is not any pressure on me, there is no pressure on me.

“I am a young talented footballer with potential of scoring goals and with every quality a striker possesses.”

Frederich Acheampong was part of Ghana’s U17 team in 2010 under the tutelage of coach Frimpong Manso.
