Samuel Afum has been ruled out for just one week after suffering a thigh injury on Saturday
Ghana attacker Samuel Afum was forced off the pitch after suffering a thigh injury in Young Boys’ 4-0 defeat at FC Zurich in the Swiss Super League on Saturday.
The former Hearts of Oak playmaker attended treatment on Sunday morning in Bern and club doctors have confirmed the injury is not as serious as it was initially feared.
FC Zurich’s Albanian defender Berat Djimsiti stamped his foot into the 22-year-old’s thigh in the 7th minute at the Stadion Letzigrund.
Afum’s pace was sapped after the challenge and he could not continue after the break as Martin Rueda replaced him with Venezuela international Josef Martínez.
A further test on the extent of the damage was carried on Sunday morning and Young Boys’ doctors have established the former Ghana league top scorer could returning to active training during the course of the week.
Afum was making his second Super League apperance for Young Boys after marking his debut last weekend.
