Ashantigold are expected to confirm the permanent appointment of  coach Yaw Acheampong.

The ex-Ghana international has been assured he is the right man for the job after he guided the team to second position in the top-flight.

Acheampong has agreed to accept the position in principle and the remaining contractual  issues are expected to be ironed out in the coming days.

It was widely believed officials of the Obuasi-based club were reportedly determined to bring in an expatriate to manage the club next season but have now decided that Acheampong’s claims on the vacancy are impossible to ignore.

“The Board and Management are of the view that he (Yaw Acheampong) has done a good job and deserve to get the job on a permanent basis,” Chief Executive Kudjoe Fianoo told Radio XYZ

“That is why we’re helping him to acquire his Caf License A badge. We want him to upgrade his knowledge on the game that will inure to the benefit of the club.

“It’s almost certain that we’ll tie him down to a permanent deal,”

The miners could win silverware this season after they qualified to the finals of the MTN FA Cup.
