Former management member of Asante Kotoko Afrifa Yamoah Ponko has revealed his hidden ambition to return to the club as Chief Executive.

The current Municipal Chief Executive of Ejisu-Juaben was integral to Kotoko’s league success in 2005 as the Operations Manager of the side.

Ponko’s charisma endeared him to many Kotoko fans and is still loved despite his veering into politics.

But the tough-talking personality says he wishes to return to lead Kotoko one day.

“This is a hidden ambition that I cannot hide,” he told Metro FM.

“It is through Kotoko that I am where I am now. Kotoko introduced me to almost everything in my life.

“Football is related to politics. Talk of the great men in politics but behind sports.

“If you to Italy you have the likes of [Silvio] Berlusconi, if you come to Ghana you have the late Professor Mills, everywhere.

“But for the mean time I have been entrusted with a political task and that is where my focus is.

“However if God grants me long life and good health then definitely coming back to Kotoko is something I will do.

“Now we have to put our support behind the current leadership to ensure that the club becomes successful.”
