Ghanaian striker Yakubu Mohammed believes he can shine under new Maritzburg coach Clinton Larsen.
Larsen, the former Bloemfontein Celtic coach, was appointed last week to replace German Ernst Middendorp, who has moved in the opposite direction.
Mohammed was signed by Middendorp after scoring14 goals in the Ghana Premier League last season for AshantiGold.
The 23-year-old expects to improve under the new man.
“I personally don’t know him, he met the group and introduced himself to us and from the way he spoke to us individually I could see that we are on the right track,” Mohammed said.
“He personally called me and gave me his word that I will play a key role in his team so I’m 100 percent ready to work for him and achieve my goals as well.”
Mohammed has battled injuries in his first season and made only five appearances and scored just one goal.
