Youth and Sports Minister Elvis Afriyie-Ankrah has disclosed that the budget for Ghana’s 2014 World Cup campaign will be made public when it is approved.

Circling media reports claim the Ghana Football Association submitted a budget of around US$ 20 million to the ministry for approval.

Previous Black Stars budgets have been a subject to public debate and ministry and the Football Association want to be transparent this time round.

“When we conclude discussions on the budget with stakeholders and get approval from the President, we will let Ghanaians know, that’s all I can say for now. I won’t say anything further,” Afriyie-Ankrah told Accra-based Asempa FM.

There are suspicions that officials bloat figures in the budget to further their pockets.

Ghana had a budget of US$19 million approved for the last edition of the World Cup in South Africa.

The Black Stars will begin camping in Rotterdam and play Holland in an international friendly on 31 May before leaving to Los Angeles.
