World Cup 2014: Ghana's Asamoah ready to play at left-back to stop Portugal's Ronaldo
Kwadwo Asamoah is ready to play in any position to help Ghana at the World Cup

Ghana midfielder Kwadwo Asamoah has hinted that he is ready to play at the problematic left-back position for the Black Stars in the wake of some anxiety over the country's left-backs for June's World Cup in Brazil.

This means the Juventus star player is ready to play in the left-back position to stop world best player Cristiano Ronaldo of Portugal when the the two countries clash in Group G of the tournament.

There are worries that the Black Stars don't have enough quality in the team to be able to stop some of the world's best wingers which has sparked debates about who should play the left-back positions for Ghana.

Ex-Ghana defender Joe Addo claimed on Wednesday that the Black Stars lack intelligent left-backs to play at the tournament in Brazil with players like Portugal's Ronaldo expected to operate on the wings. Asamoah started his career as a midfield playmaker but is now a left wing-back at Juventus and regularly plays in different positions for the Ghana national team.

Far from being frustrated by that situation, the Kumasi born player says it could help his career.

"The Juventus coach spoke to me once and wanted to try me on the left side and everything went well," Asamoah said.

"It's really good for me because I've got two positions I can play and that's really going to help me.

"In the national team I also play sometimes from the right side going forward. As a player, if you're versatile it can be really useful."

Asamoah played at the left-back when Juventus met Real Madrid in the Champions League recently and the Ghanaian was credited for an excellent job of stopping Ronaldo and Gareth Bale.
