World Cup 2010: Andre Ayew named Man-of-the Match

Published on: 26 June 2010

Ghana midfielder Andre Ayew was named Man of the Match in Ghana's 2-1 win over the United States in their Round of 16 clash.

The son of Black Stars legend Abedi Pele produced a gritty performance in Rustenburg, leading the barricades against the Americans' final onslaught.

But Ayew also played a key role in Ghana's offense by producing a number of crosses, including the assist that allowed Asamoah Gyan to score the winning goal during injury time.

However, a booking in the 90th minute - his second of the tournament -means he will miss out on next Friday's quarter-final clash against Uruguay.
