Ghana FA spokesman Ibrahim Sannie-Daara says a Black Starsââ¬â¢ win over Sudan in next monthââ¬â¢s 2014 World Cup qualifier is not negotiable.
The nation is still grieving over Ghanaââ¬â¢s abysmal showing at the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations.
The Black Stars failed to end a 31-year trophy drought after a penalty shootout defeat to Burkina Faso at the semi-final stage in South Africa.
Mali inflicted more misery with a 3-1 win over Ghana in the third-place playoff â⬓ ensuring Akwasi Appiahââ¬â¢s men came home empty handed.
Coach Appiah was nevertheless retained despite several calls for his dismissal in the hope that mistakes made will be corrected to qualify Ghana for the World Cup in Brazil.
Ghana FA Communications Director now says only one result will be good enough to pacify Ghanaians â⬓ a resounding win over Sudan when the qualifiers resume next month.
ââ¬ÅWe must get it right to pacify Ghanaians,â⬠Sannie-Daara said on GTVââ¬â¢s Stage Africa show.
ââ¬ÅWe made a promise to win the trophy (at 2013 AFCON), we couldnââ¬â¢t and ended up hurting Ghanaians.
ââ¬ÅHowever we look to take lessons from it and ensure we make them happy again by beating Sudan in the World Cup qualifiers which already we are on the back foot with the three points awarded Zambia.ââ¬
Anything less than a win on March 24 will certainly spell doom for under fire coach Akwasi Appiah while putting Ghana in a more difficult position to make a third successive appearance at the World Cup.
