Ghana coach James Kwesi Appiah has admitted his side are in the Group of death at the 2014 World Cup after Friday's draw in Costa Do Sauipe.

The Black Stars have been drawn in Group G along with old foes USA, Germany and Portugal.

Ghana have not played against Portugal in any recognisable competition at senior level in recent times but have beaten the United States twice at the last two World Cups.

While Germany pipped Ghana 1-0 at the last edition in South Africa and Ghana head coach Kwesi Appiah believes its a tough group to be drawn in.

"Yes it is a group of death as you said," he told reporters after the draw.

But he cautiously assessed Ghana's chances against the United States.

"I have seen them in recent games and I think they have got a good side so we have to be careful," he added.

Ghana beat the Yankees 2-1 in the Germany 2006 World Cup and followed it up with a similar scoreline four years later in South Africa.
