Ghana defender Jonathan Mensah played the entire duration of Evian TG’s shock 2-1 defeat at home to Rennes on Saturday in Annecy.
The centre-back continued to start his third straight Ligue 1 match after warming the bench last season.
Mensah picked up a yellow card in the 72nd minutes when Evian are fighting for the equalizer.
Portuguese striker Nelson Oliveira scored both goals as Philippe Montanier’s recorded their second win of the campaign.
Oliveira’s early penalty put Rennes in front and the summer signing scored again in the 34th minute for the Bretons.
Evian reduced the deficit five minutes into the second period courtesy of a stunning Kévin Bérigaud strike, but Rennes held on to claim the victory.
