Ghana striker Abdul Majeed Waris has finally scored his first goal in the Russian top flight to hand Spartak Moscow a vital 1-0 win at Rostov.

The 22-year-old has had to wait over a year to open his Premier League goal duct haven joined the Russian outfit as the top scorer and best player in Sweden.

Waris struck in the 88th minute to hand Spartak the priceless win on Sunday which now lifts the side to third in the league.

The ex BK Hacken star despite his stuttering club form has been in great scoring form for the Black Stars.

Waris scored in three consecutive games to help Ghana qualify for the 2014 World Cup.

His has formed an effective striking partnership with captain Asamoah Gyan to power the Black Stars through a hugely successful qualifying campaign.

The Right to Dream Academy graduate will now be buoyed by his opening premiership goal as he prepares to join the Ghana squad for next summer’s World Cup in Brazil.
