Ghana striker Abdul Majeed Waris claims his injury is not as serious as initially feared.
The 21-year-old was taken off injured after scoring one and setting up another in Spartak Moscow’s 3-2 win over Stromsgodset in a friendly match on Thursday.
Waris has just resumed his impressive goalscoring form that saw him clinch the goal king award in the Swedish top flight last season.
He however appeared to have sprained his ankle in the friendly – arousing fears of a n extended spell on the sidelines.
But the Right to Dream Academy graduate says he has been given the all clear by club doctors to resume training with the side by Tuesday after scans reveal his injury was not serious.
“I did the scan and it wasn’t anything serious. I will return to training either on Monday or Tuesday,” he said.
The news comes as a massive boost to Waris who is looking to make a return to the Black Stars for next month’s crucial 2014 World Cup qualifier against Sudan.
The ex BK Hacken star only joined Spartak in January haven emerged the goal king of last season’s Swedish Allsvenskan.
I Thank GOD it wasn’t any serious injury. My prayer for him is to play and enjoy a massive play time with no injuries and more goals.
Waris do not rush back if you are injured, a nagging injury is the worst. Make sure you are feeling 100% regardless of what the team doctors are telling you. You should know your body better than any doctor or scan.
If you are indeed healed that is great news. You are the real deal, one of the best strikers Ghana has produced. I wish you an incredible and prolific scoring season at your new Club.
