Celtic confident of sorting out Wakaso's work permit problems
Scottish giants Celtic will sort out the work permit problems of Ghana’s Mubabrak Wakaso in the coming days to help them complete the signing of the midfielder.
Celtic manager Ronny Deila was keen on completing the signing of the Russia-based player last week but work permit problems prevented him for sealing the loan deal.
The work permit problems prevented the conclusion of a loan deal for Mubarak from Russian side Rubin Kazan before last week’s Champions League game against Maribor.
That is because Wakaso has not played 70% of Black Stars matches in the past two years which means he does not qualify for an automatic work permit to play in the United Kingdom.
But Celtic will put together a team of lawyers to the Home Office this week to ensure that Wakaso gets the permit under a special dispensation to clear the way for the Ghanaian to seal the switch.
Delia is hopeful of completing the signing Ghana winger Wakaso Mubarak within days.
“We hope things will happen this week,” Deila told BBC Scotland.
“We’re working a lot on this and I think we’re going to get things how we want it.”
Mubarak has been in Russia’s top flight since last summer after spending six years in Spain with Elche, Villareal and Espanyol.
Now the player, who has been capped 19 times for Ghana, is poised to spend the rest of the season at Celtic Park on loan.
