Ghana midfielder Mubarak Wakaso says reports about him facing a disciplinary hearing following his comments on Spanish referees are exaggerated.

The 22-year-old grabbed the headlines last month when he made racist comments against referees in the Spanish top flight.

The Espanyol player accused referees of looking at the colour of the skin of players and that for his constant bookings in matches.

Marca newspaper reported that the Spanish Federation wanted to investigate the matter and hand punishment to the Ghanaian if found guilty.

“I found out from my office whether they received any letter from the federation but they said no,” Wakaso told MTNFootball.com

“They were not sure if the letter will be sent anyway although it was announced that the Federation.”

Wakaso has been a regular for Espanyol since his summer move from relegated Villarreal.
