Ghana midfielder Wakaso Mubarak has completed his switch to Russian side Rubin Kazan from Espanyol on a £5.2 million deal, GHANAsoccernet.com can confirm.
Espanyol have confirmed agreement with Kazan and the 23-year-old will travel to Russian to undergo medicals and complete the move.
“Espanyol and Rubin Kazan have reached an agreement on Wednesday for the transfer of Mubarak Wakaso to the Russian team, as soon as he has passed a medical with his new club.
Los Pericos blocked several offers from a flock of clubs including Juventus, Swansea City and Newcastle United but the workaholic winger will now leave the club.
The Black Stars winger told Espanyol TV: “I want to say sorry to the club, the players and the fans because I have asked to leave although they didn’t want me to. ”
It was the right opportunity for my future.”
Wakaso spent just a season at the Estadi Cornellà-El Prat after joining from Villarreal.
