Wakaso Mubarak absent as Rubin Kazan manage friendly win

Black Stars versatile winger Wakaso Mubarak was out of action for Russian giants Rubin Kazan when they posted a slender 2-1 win over Romanian side CFR Cluj in an international friendly.

The 24-year-old watched from the stands at the Estadio Municipal as a dominant Kazan side defeated their opponents with some measure of ease as they missed a penalty.

Wakaso, who lost his child during the Christmas holiday breaks rejoined Kazan on January 18 on their training tour in Spain and has been training with the side but did not play in the friendly on Saturday.

Kazan manager Rinat Bilyaletdinov feels the former AshGold winger has more to do to catch up with his side and thus did not use him in the game.

Somehow our players don’t fit in well in Eastern-Europe. He was Espanyol’s best player last season, and now he’s a bench-warmer in Rubin. What’s wrong?
