Ghana youth international Wakaso Mubarak was in top shape for Spanish side Villarreal which progressed to the semi-final of the Uefa Europa League by beating FC Twente 1-3 on Thursday.
Villarreal led the tie 5-1 from the first leg but were determined to leave no stone unturned.
Coach Juan Carlos Garrido assigned a Wakaso to the right wing and he made impact.
The Yellow Submarines return from the break 1-0 down but the 20-year-old ensured his side had the chance to restore parity.
The 20-year-old made Twente defender Dwight Tiendalli pay for an unpardonable error on the 58th minute.
He gave the ball away to Wakaso and he was on his way to scoring his debut goal for Villarreal but Tiendalli prevented him by lazily stucking a leg out and tripping the winger inside the box.
He received a straight red card for the offence and Italian Giuseppe Rossi stepped up to convert to keep the score level.
Striker Marco Ruben scored from another spot-kick before substitute Cani added the icing on the cake with a superb third goal with two minutes of normal time remaining.
Wakaso is yet to make his senior debut for Ghana.
He was simply majestic but massa, he didn’t play at the right wing as you wrote here. He was rather playing at he left wing.Another good talent for Ghana. So his sacking from Eiche was rather a blessing for him.
This guy is at least 27 years … while age cheating exists around the world, it’s a nightmare in sub-Saharan Africa. Like Nigeria’s ‘Little Messi’ who in actual fact is older than Lionel Messi.
well spot on jerro, now its clear that i dont just called for the inclusion of players into the stars bcos they’re my favourites as some wankers say but bcos they merit to atleast warm the bench of the stars.i wrote on this forum the last time that.jordan ayew, afriyie aquah and wakaso deserve to atleast warm the bench of the stars.these are players with full of talent and will soon be key to the stars success but due to favouritism and nepotism virtus managed players are always prefered.wakaso wasn’t impressive in the first half but improved in the second half.young players must be around the stars to atleast earn confidence and mingle with the snr players to prepare them for brasil 2014.most of the top soccer nationas are doing the same,so why cant we learn from the best?the transition must start now! and the search of striker is on! the over dependence on gyan won’t do us good.neither tagoe or adiyiah is up to the task.olele is losing his reflexes.the earlier we start preparing the team the better!practically we’re the best in africa but on paper i bet to differ.i keep on asking, how many of our first team players will command a regular position in the ivorian team, the cameroun team and the senegalese team?with the exception of essien, none of our players will be a starter for those teams.if someone doubt me,we can compare and contrast.we’re not in the level nyantakyi and some ghanaians think.if football, the best team dont always win.
Good luck wakasu and well done you really play well all the best.
point of correction,i mean with the exception of kp boateng and essien none of our blackstars players will be a starter for cameroun, ivory coast and senegal.anyone who dont get it can bring the debate on!
I agree wid u on ivorycoast not on camrn n senegal
@sabacious… football is not like tennis where it’s about the individual. The reason why England, Cote D’Ivoire and countries with a collection of good players do not make it at the big tournies is that their Managers and journalists all reason like the way you do. they think that a collection of good players equal a good team. Wrong! You can make all the individual comparison of players you want but the Black Stars would always outperform some of the countries you mention. They have the right attitude towards the game and that’s what matters!
@Sabacious i was itching to read your comments after this article. I know you have been an advocate to include Wakaso and others into the B/Stars team instead of certain individuals. If Wakaso is indeed as good as has been stipulated by some people, then what is the technical team of the B/Stars waiting for? At least he deserves to be on the bench like other players as was indicated earlier by Sabacious to learn for the future if not, now. This guy is not playing for some shabby team in Europe but Villarreal so what does a man needs to do to be called up into the B/Stars team? I do however acknowledge that the technical team of the B/Stars cannot call all players as there is a limitation as to the number of players they can invite but at least they should invite players who can positively influence the team when the likes of Essien and them are not there. To divert a bit from Wakaso’s saga, i am of the view that Olele is always good for Ghana when given the chance to play but what about grooming the likes of Adam Kwarasey etc to take Olele’s place when he is not there? We need to invest in a long term plan for goal keepers as much as we would for strikers/midfielders/defenders. We need to plan ahead to enable us to stay ahead of our competitors. more can be done to put pressures on players who are not playing regularly in their teams to consider other alternatives Like Adiyiah and Tagoe have done and is paying off for them
@sabacious i thought you were making sense in saying that the players you have mentioned should be given the chance to make a claim for the black stars though i suggest that coach and his technical men be allowed to do that but i am disappointed in the comment that apart from essien and KP Boateng no Ghanaian player can be a starter for Cameroon, Senegal or ivory coast. i am afraid these type of baseless comments show your lack of understanding for most part of the beautiful game and apparent immaturity in things that matter in football. sabacious go and check your facts well cos most Ghanaian players would easily fit into in the first eleven of these national teams. after all we do not use their players to play at the world cup and their players are still playing before these current members of the black stars have reached 15th in the world ranking despite the absence of both boateng and essien. Essien and Boateng are among the favorite players for a lot of Ghanaian including me but unguarded comments like yours give then an unfair spotlight. thanks
i agree with sabacious on most of what he has written but i strongly disagree with his ascertion that our 1st team player will not be starters in some national teams in africa. KPB,Dede,Gyan,Incoom,Vorsa,John and Jonathan Mensah, Derick Boateng,Anna etc will all start in any team in africa
@sabacious I usually agree with your comments…and it is true most of our first team players will not make the bench of certain countries even in Africa. But as @ali musah aptly puts its football is not an individual sport. This is where Ghana’s strengths lie. For several years we have achieved more than CI, Senegal etc because of our team spirit, ambition and determination.
So all these players were there and the powers that be failed to invite them for the U-23? Fire will burn them!! Aaaah! ADEN?
to contribute to the discussion i want to remind us all of the recent golden era of abedi pele and tony yeboah what did we achieve. Individual brilliance does not achieve much in the game of football. SABACIOUS stop the ‘nepotism’ thing and allow the BS coach to do his work. He has barely started.
@ Benny and Sabacious, both of you have said the truth, but for you ali musah, i don’t think you’ve been following this forum, there are so many Ghanaians who doesn’t know what is going on in Ghana football, so if Sabacious say something he knows why he’s saying that, and if you follow this site publication then you will understand him, about Wakaso Mubarak, if you watch the match yesterday wou will asked your self why is this boy not in our selection? and again a club like Villarreal which is like the third or fourth strongest team is Spanish La Liga play a 90 minutes in their europa cup quater final match and not in their home match but away, means the coach trust the boy too match, and boy deliver the message, so why Ghana can’t give this boy chance and see?
Saba backoff u don’t have a case in ur reflection of the above article of only ess,kpb would fit in the like of ivory, camer, senag.we hava the best players in africa camer is eto,the likes of vorsah, rock, johnathan, derek, annan, pantsail, gyan, kumordzi, kwado, dede, agyemans has no comparising in africa. Come again
hahahahahha i know for sure some ignorants will will attack me.now lets compare and contrast.(cameroon)will any coach play david addy, inkoom, opare and sarpei on the leftback ahead of assou-ekotto? olele ahead of kameni, john mensah ahead of stephane mbia?vorsah ahead of bassong? paintsil ahead of chedjou? in (midfield)will a coach play annan ahead of alex song? badu, dede and k.asamoah ahead of joel matip? derek boateng ahead of jean makoun, eyong enoh and augustine binya?(strikers)will a coach play gyan ahead of eto? adiyiah and tagoe ahead of emana, pierre webo and eric choupo-mouting of hamburg? hell no!!!SENEGAL)defenders-will a coach play vorsah and john mensah ahead of inform souleymane diawara(marseille)papa diakhate(lyon)?will a coach play gyan, tagoe and adiyiah ahead of moussa sow of lille who is the leading scorer in the french ligue1?papis demba cisse(freburg)who is the leading scorer in the bundesliga?demba ba of westham? hell no!!!will a coach play lee addy, david addy and sarpei ahead of guy demel of hamburg?mensah ahead of kolo toure?vorsah ahead of siaka tiene? paintsil and opare ahead of emmanuel eboue?(midfield)will a coach play annan, badu and derek boateng, dede,k.asamoah ahead of cheik tiote, romaric koffi, yaya toure and kafoumba coulibaly?(strikers)will a coach play gyan, tagoe and adiyah ahead of drogba, gervinho and salomon kalou? HELL NO!! its time u wankers try and be realistic and accused constructively! the blacks is not what u guys think its! in football like i said earlier, the good team doesn’t always win.is time we stop the favouritism and nepotism and invite players purely on merit!
@sabacious, stop dis i know it all attitude n read ali musah’s comment well u will get da sense in wat he is sayin. england and ivory coast with all their stars couldnt make it pass da 1st round of da world cup.greece didnt have stars in their team bt stil won da european cup,ok try n compare n contrast their players with that of england, portugal, france etc at dat time,i know wankers like u predicted be4 dat tournament dat one of da countries av listed was going to take da cup..massa talents win games but team work wins championships.
Congratutation to Wakaso Mubarak for his great performance at villareal, GFA kingly invite him to the senior team, he is a natural left footed player who can play for our number 3 position, remember what he did atunder 17 in Peru.Again what about his junior brother Alhassan Wakaso, please kindly monitor him in Portual leaque. Thanks
You guys are very stupid, Sabacious was always correct. How does Opoku Agyemang and Emanuel Agyemang Badu justify their inclusion when there are players like Wakaso, Afriyie Acquah and Prince Buaben who never get called. Even look at Opare, how has he been just barely called when Lee Addy has played 2 tournaments for us already? It is because of these stupid Virtus International connections with these Serbians. They trifle with our rosters and talents and do not allow the best players the opportunity to rise. Sabacious you are a true visionary, I salute you.
Sabacious you call yourself, your ignorance stings. I think Ghana makes a headway in soccer these days because a lot of Ghanaians have ceased seeing football the way you do.
@prettytony i stated clearly that the best teams doesn’t always win.ghana beating serbia doesn’t make ghana better than serbia or in other words, south africa beating france doesn’t makes south africa better than france.in football, luck plays a key role more than quality.if u have followed football for long time,u will figure out that.denmark were destiny to win the EURO 92 loking at their games in the group stages and the quater final so do greece.i once wrote that even our performance in angola and south africa was purely on luck.look at the penalty which was awarded to us against serbia, there wasn’t no pressure on the serbian player and the favour autrialia did to us by holding serbia and the lucky goal dede scored against burkina faso.with luck, anything a team or a players does turn to success.just take asamoah gyan’s penalty into consideration.it was simply not meant to go in.i dont hate any player or individual but i just can’t keep quite when i see things going wrong.we need players who can win games for the stars on a good day and i simply dont see those qualities in setting 4 players who are always called ahead of other good and established players.we simply need abeyie and wakaso in the team and jordan ayew and afriyie acquah to be around the team and gain experience and confidence.even if they’re call to camp and couldn’t make the final 18 man squard,it makes sense.the time to prepare for 2014 is now and all future prospects like daniel boateng, emmanuel sarpong, boakye yiadom and the rest must monitored.football is not for the old men!
sabacious did i heard u say eric choupo mouting???hahahahahahahahah u are kidding me.this dude is warming the bench of hamburg sv n he is not going to be offered a contract.
this shows how ignorant u are.let me tell u football is ateam spirit not a game for indidviduals.
u calling moossa sow’s name realy shocked me.wasnt moussa sow playing in the same team(stade rennes) with asamoah gyan when gyan scored 13 goals last season?oo i guess u dont kno wat u are talking about.gyan has proved to be agood striker all this while.
becuz of asamaoh gyan n the guinean ismaily bangoura mousa sow was benched, which furstrated him alot n he changed to osc lille.u just cant take one season to judge a player.
what did cameroun n ivory coast do at the world cup??even cameroun’S group was easier no disrespect to japan n danemark who were in the same group with the indomitable lions!
i will rather take sarpei ahead of assou ekotto becuz he was useless at the worldcup.most of this players u mentioned from senegal, cameroun n la cote divoire only perform well for their various clubs.
even though most of our boys are still young n coming up,anything they get the chance to play for the stars, they show comittment n team work.
why is ghana africas best soccer team, becuz we play constructive n effective football for good results not that kind of ofu ri game the others play.
our groups at our two major worldcups were realy tough with the likes of italy, czech repulic(at that time best team in the world, germany n serbia but still yet u managed our way through.
at the other hand,we have asamoah gyan who is africas top worldcupscorer with four goals together with cameroonian legend roger miller.
havent drogba n etoo also played two worldcups just like asamoah gyan?
sabacious u always talk without thinking about ur words.
as long as team work is the success of the game of soccer, ghana will forever be succesful.
SABACIOUS AKA SWEDISH HUSTLER OPEN UR EYES.bring it on
Sabacious there were even more players… Nicolas N’Koulou as the CB on Monaco has been tipped as oone of the best young defenders in the French Ligue. Dame N’Doye the Striker from Senegal has set the Champions League on fire on Copenhagen and even gave Chelsea a torrid time. Mame Diouf the Senegalese striker on loan for Blackburn who is owned by Manchester United! The thing is the Senegalese team is very young, in about 4 years time they will probably be the next best team in Afrika. The point is that all these good players owned by good clubs get a legitimate chance to shine on their National Teams, but in Ghana useless small time players like Prince Tagoe and Opoku Agyemang are given guaranteed spots on the team because of other interests. We better get our program in line FAST, the reason we have gotten so far was the infrastructure of the team built around Stephen Appiah, now that he is gone we are over relying on Asamoah Gyan. We need to strip away the bias and make every player compete for their positions. I want to see Bekoe who play for Petrojet as well as Prince Buaben, Wakaso, Afriyie Acquah, Jeffrey Sarpong from Real Sociedad who plays regularly and even players who are barely capped like Derek Boateng and Quincy deserve more of a look. See the GFA understands that there are certain players who will not give them 40% kickback of their salary if they are invited. This is why they do not push for players like Adam Kwarasey to join our team. Look at Jeffery Sarpong, the kid is a dribbling wizard winger for Real Sociedad, but because he came up in the Netherlands system they will not call him because he has no GFA connection and will offer no kickback, same for foreign products like Buaben and Quincy. We need to have a Ghana Football revolution or disaster will be on the doorstep.
sabacious u saying will a coach play moussa sow ahead of gyan shows how ignorant u are.wasnt sow at the same club with gyan last sow when gyan banged in 13 ligue 1 goals for stade rennes?
didnt current rennes coach antonetti featured gyan n ismaily bangoura ahead of mussa sow?
hahahahahahahahahahha sabacious u kno nothing about soccer.leave us alone.
Nicolas N’Koulou is from Cameroon, forgot to point that out.
I KNOW FOR SURE THIS IGNORAMUS CALL KEITH FROM BOGOSO WILL COME HERE TO WRITE HIS SENSELESS COMMENTS.I WONDER WHY U ARE SOO WEAK IN UR THINKING!U TALKED ABOUT CHOUPO MOUTING.IF I MAY ASK,HAVE U EVEN WATCH HIM PLAYING BEFORE? IF YES,CAN U COMPARE ADIYIAH AND TAGOE TO HIM? YES HE’S NOT PLAYING REGULARLY FOR HAMBURG BCOS OF BETTER PLAYERS LIKE PETRIC AND RUUD VAN NISEROOY.CAN THE SAME BE SAID ABOUT ADIYIAH AND TAGPE WHO COULDN’T EVEN MAKE IT WITH REGGINA AND HOFFEHEIM RESPECTIVELY?OUT OF STUPIDITY,U EVEN WENT AHEAD TO SAY U WILL PLAY SARPEI AHEAD OF ASSOU-EKOTTO.HOW CAN U USED A TOURNAMENT TO ACCESS A PLAYER? WE ALL SAW IN 2010 HOW FLOP STARS LIKE ETO,DROGBA,ROONEY,MESSI,CR9,LAMPARD,STEVE GERARD AND THE REST WERE.SO ARE U TELLING ME GYAN PERFORMANCE IN SA MAKES HIM BETTER THAN THE ABOVE MENTIONED STRIKERS?IF U CARE TO KNOW,HOW MANY GOALS HAS GYAN SCORE FROM OPEN PLAY AND HOW MANY PENALTIES HAS HE MISSED AND SCORED IN BOTH 2006 AND 2010 WC?ITS IGNORANT LIKE U WHO WILL BENCH A TOP SCORER IN THE LIGUE 1 AND GO FOR GYAN.YES MOUSSA SOW WAS TRANSFERED TO LILLE JUST LIKE ARJEN ROBBEN,WESLEY SNEIJDER,VAN DER VART AND ETO WAS TRANSFERED TO INTER AND BAYERN FOR LACK OF REGULAR PLAYING TIME RESPECTIVELY BUT CAN U TELL ME THAT ANGEL DI MARIA,OZIL,SAMI KHEDIRA AND DAVID VILLA ARE BETTER THAN THE ABOVE MENTIONED PLAYERS BCOS THEY WERE TRANSFERED BY BARCA AND MADRID? U COULD HAVE MAKE SENSE BY PROVING ME WRONG THAT,DEDE,KWADWO ASAMOAH,BADU,JOHN MENSAH,VORSAH,GYAN,DEREK BOATENG,SULLEY AND THE REST OF THE BLACK STARS PLAYERS WILL SIMPLY COMMAND A FIRST TEAM PLACE AHEAD OF THE PLAYERS A MENTIONED.ITS NOT USE TO EVEN ARGUE WITH SUCH A LOW LEVEL THINKER LIKE U.U ARE AMONG THOSE GHANAIANS WHO SEE ANYTHING GHANA BETTER THAN OTHERS INSTEAD OF FACING REALITY.I KNOW FOR SURE,ALL IS NOT WELL WITH THE STARS AND UNTILL THE RIGHT MEASURES ARE TAKEN I.E BY INVITING PLAYERS PURELY ON MERIT,JUST MARK MY WORDS AND SEE WHAT WILL HAPPEN IN THE AFCON 2012.BE REAL TO UR SELF IF BADU,TAGOE,ADIYAH,LEE ADDY AND CLOTTEY WILL BE THE BENCH OF MALI AND NIGERIA? I REALLY HATE GUYS LIKE U WHO ALWAYS SHY FROM THE TRUTH! PEACE!
hahahaha go n read my above comments becuz wat u just wrote is not the kind of answer i was expecting.why are u diverting the issue?i was expecting u to comment on the gyan musa sow case but i guess u have seen that im right thats why u are dodging the mousa sow issue.
hahahaha sabacious runaway u are.
i wont waste my precious time on u becuz most of ur comments are senseless.sabacious u have been exposed hahahaha.
dis stupid guy sabacious paaa…u come here writing baseless comments longer dan da article itself. if want to write essay, go write a blog somewhere…..u just foolishly said non of our starters will not make it in da starting 11 of da teams u just mentioned. so will wakaso , jordan and those u just mentioned make it in those teams. Mr. Man shut yur stinking mouth and let us have some peace.
Keith you are stupid. Ronaldinho sat on PSG bench when JJ Okocha was on the starting lineup. Is JJ Okocha better than Ronaldinho? Asamoah Gyan is a good player, but the point is your comment on Musa Sow does not justify that he is a better player.
u are just an ignorant! yeah gyan scored 13 goals in 2009-10 season but how many of the goasl were from penalty spot and from open play compare to moussa sow 20 goals this season? and why are u even talking about only moussa sow? he doesn’t always start for senegal bcos of papis cisse, demba ba and mamadou niang.do u even understand what is meant by current form in football? moussa sow is not the same sow during the 2008-09 season.is no use arguing with u cos i dont see any sense in it.are u not the same person talking shit here, when i questioned the rational behind milo and tetteh decision to play lee addy and harrison afful ahead of sarpei?u have passion for football but u gotta read wide to broaden ur mind and stop urgueing blindly over here.i’ll always be our master analysis on soccerenet PEACE!
@sabacious,ma argument is still not flawed.look blackstars had arguably da best players on da continent in da early nineties but wat did they achieve?,oh yeah i get it luck was nt always on their side, dats laughable.Dis present squad dnt are no where near da dat group interms of quality bt look at their achievements, dat shd tell u it not about individual playas rather teamwork…i agree wiv u south africa beatn france doesnt make them better but on dat day they won cos of teamwork cos we all heard da divisions in da french team, dis buttress my point av been makin all day…4get about wat greece did prior to da competition,my argument is since u like comparin n contrastin players, lets do da with the greece playas n dat of england, italy, portugal etc n tell me if u hadnt followed da qualifiers who u would av predicted 2 take da cup
@opanka or whatever u call ur fukin self,it could have been better if u had comment on the issue at stake.anyway ur father and uncle is the 1st and the 2nd stupid guys and maybe i might be the 3rd.kwasiabaaaaaaaaaaaa! if i’ve points to make, what do u expect? are u expecting me to write in short hand or what?FAGGOT! if u dont respect in public forum, just go and lick ur rotten mama thights!BUM AS NIGGA!
@blackstar defender, people like u are da reason sabacious comes here thinkin he knows it all.I think da depth of ur intelligence needs time 2 improve may be 5 or 6yrs tops..av read all ur comments, trust me u sound like a complete FOOL,no offence.
Saba u are a fool,it’s b’cos u are b’hind in ages in fball. With u baca will allways beat real 5-0,and chealse will not win a trophy
Sabacious i dont often comment on this medium i am clarifying issues here because u feel so confident in your comments and even take people on with such inflated ego..i dont rightly agree with you because
your view of what constitute a good player is very wrong..
The team we have at the moment is the best on the continent…if u have technical eyes u will agree with me. let me better put it this way our players play very well when in national colours than respective club colours,do u agree?…
During the just ended world cup England were touted as one of the favourite if not the favourite to win the world cup and what became of them. The players that contituted the German team i
mean the likes of ozil, jerome,Mueller,Khedira etc…would probably not have gained selection into the England national team they would have been third string players to the likes of Lampard,Gerard,Rooneys,Coles etc.But look at the beaten they dished out to England.
I do agree with u when u say the likes of Afriyie Acquah,Jordan and Wakasso should be allowed to play in the national team but u got it all wrong when u say “the best team doesnt always win”then u dnt deserve to be called the best…all the big names u mentioned in those national teams are big just on paper…I have sometimes agreed with some of the comment u post here but u got this one all wrong..
@ Prettytony…See this is the problem with you guys, you just insult the poster, blanketly call the comments nonsense, or try and micro-scrutinize one point…you debate as children…you do not actually analyze and refute what is said, that is why Sabacious lives, and I too will live and thrive. You guys are blind…
hahahah sabacious thinks real football is fifa 11…crazy guy. Did you jux compare moussa Sow and gyan?lol You can only compare them when they are playing in the same league or on the same team. When they were both at rennes who was the bench warmer? Sow is thrivn at lille because le Losc has more talented players. Let gyan play for a more creative team and his goals will increase. the days of doubting his striking ability shd be behind us. In conclusion. do you know how the coaches of these countries u mentioned are lusting after our players?
@popo i hope u are not of those cloners who come with the strange names and excuse that i dont normally comment on this forum lol.if u dont know that in sport the best doesn’t always win, then i wonder if u are a true sport fan.many factors can affect the out put of a team or an individual which can affect result and sometimes luck plays a key role in determining result in football.does why u hear coaches saying it wasn’t our day after they had played well but lost.are u telling me that, the france team win won the EURO 2000 AND 98 wc BUT failed to win a single match in 2002 wc with almost the same players wasn’t better than senegal and urugaury who qualified from their group?are u telling me the france team with was in the final of 2006 wc and narrowly lost on penalties to italy with almost the same players in 2010 wasn’t better than mexico and uruguary who qualified from their group? are u telling me schalke who are struggling in the bundesliga beating defending champions inter 7-3 makes then better than inter?it goes on and on! a team can play better and dominate a game but even a striker will hit goal post with the keeper beaten.popo get this straight from me that,in football there is always favourite but u cant rule the other team out.the best team may have 75% to win whilst the weaker team can have 25% or less of winning,so no matter what.there is always possibility for a weaker team to win against the best team.PEACE!it happens in every sport bro
To all of you:
1. The individual PLAYERS we have may not be the best on the continent, but the TEAM we have is currently the best!
2. Some players deserve to play regularly for the black stars (based on CURRENT FORM), or at least an invitation to the black stars, yes, even if it is to warm the bench or justify their inclusion (example, see how everyone was commending Derek Boateng after our game against England, yet he wasn’t getting play time under MILO); Players like: Prince Buabeng, Mubarak Wakaso, Quincy Abeyie, Jeffery Sarpong (is the GFA even working on his switch? see what happened to Kevin Osei for the U-20 tournament recently?), Adam Kwarasey, Emmanuel Frimpong, and all other players who are willing to prove a point for the nation and are in-form.
3.) Some players need NOT be even invited into the black stars set up: (Oh, do you want me to mention names…nah)! Even the blind can see—of course, you got it right—LEE ADDY is one of them, and please, let’s be honest, current form must be the standard. We must be honest that Badu is a great player when he is in-form, but now, he is damn rusty people, and he must seek a loan like Adiyiah, Dede, and others did to maintain their form, else, can someone tell me their continuous inclusion at the expense of the in-form? Or is it because of George Afriyie, Randy, and co. who have their shares in these players just like Virtus does! Does Virtus pay GFA executives any kickbacks? We shall one day find out folks!
4). Quality players win games, and quality teams win championships/titles! We need a quality team with quality players that’s why we haven’t won any trophy in almost 30 years, yes, you heard me, 30 YEARS! We can or might always get close and say, “we almost won”, but that’s not what we need…we have to WIN CHAMPIONSHIPS with the calibre of players we have…but we are not using our full arsenals due to nepotism and corruption! Player for player, Ghana has the best talent on the continent, but we always leave our FULL best out, take about 3 or 4 excellent ones and blend them with good-for-nothing ones who always become the “achilles heel” of the team, so we lose when we don’t have to….yes, the better team always beats us because we can’t always ride on luck.
4.) Luck plays a role in soccer regardless of how good a team you have! You need luck on your side to win at times, because sometimes, referees, unseen powerful figures/forces (politics), or officials play against you.
5.) One cannot train donkeys to win titles regardless of determination, luck, hard work and dedication! You need quality, teamwork, and all of the above to succeed!
6.) Finally: politics, nepotism, corruption, greed, insincerity, and bad management is killing the game in Ghana and Africa! Ghana can win the world cup if things are done properly but we cannot for the next foreseeable future…maybe some other African team can, as long as they do things right and build their infrastructure well. Ghana football had been so badly managed over the years such that when Kwesi Nyantakyi came on the seen and did a “little good” administrative work (in the eyes of Ghanaians), he is being hailed as a “god”/hero in Ghana and Africa (I don’t want to talk about delays in player nationality switches, mid-Sea saga, etc. etc); however, if you really look at things from neutral perspective, considering how far we’ve come since independence or the successes we chalked under C.K. Gyamfi, you’d realize that we should have achieved much more…but we never did despite our pool of talent, and now we shall soon realize that there is much more to be done; Kwesi can’t do it all alone, but would he get all the help he needs? Would he, after a while, condone corruption and be only looking at what he can get in return for certain favors to some people or players? Would he consider the right people for the job and deal honestly, etc etc? All these things have to be taken seriously because all the other national teams are FAILING except the black stars…and even with the black stars, we haven’t won anything yet…but everything the black stars have achieved now have already been achieved by other African teams and yet we are celebrating as if we are the 1st!
Let us give every player a chance to prove themselves during friendlies..and if we shall be honest and search within our souls, we would realize that the black stars don’t have their best players yet…and they are no where near their potential! Also, if we shall put aside fear, tribalism, favor, and corruption, Ghana would be the best in the world…but I doubt we can ever be due to the numerous factors plaguing us notwithstanding bad leadership/management(I am yet to be proved wrong,…).
Olympic games (London) is now a fiasco..and a generation of talented individuals might go waste except the few ones who are in the limelight due to bad decisions from a talkative coach who has nothing to prove, and the lack of seriousness on the GFA’s part since there was no “kudi” involved with the meteors.
We all live to see whether Ghana shall fulfill its potential as the world’s best—because if it comes to soccer, the world should have shuddered at the mention of “Ghana” not “Brazil”, because we are the real deal when it comes to soccer; yet we have become our own bane, we keep learning but we seem never to come to the knowledge of the truth–so the same mistakes are always repeated, and the same erroneous lines are always towed, so we keep moving in a vicious cycle, but soon, a new generation of leaders would arise, …and the results shall be glaring for all to see!
Kwesi Nyantakyi is hailed because the leaders before him were greedy and pretty much “useless” despite abundant talent…but I hope he stands firm and carve out a niche for himself by becoming a beacon for his successors; but for now, “in the kingdom of the blind, the one-eyed man (cyclops) is king”!
If you are reading what I have written from my heart now, think about it, because maybe one day soon, you shall be heading the GFA, and you might be the one to lead Ghana football to world cup glory! Let’s be objective and stop back-biting, in-fighting, love one another, have an open-mind, and be truthful…WE MUST STOP LIVING ON PAST-GLORIES!!
God bless!
Ghanasoccernet Wakaso is rather 21 yrs of age not 20 yrs as you guys want readers to believe.Anyway the debate should go on.
@sabacious…France had complacency on their side..nobody gave football minnow like Senegal a chance against France and the defeat affected them psychologically…here was a virtually unknown side ready to prove to the world that names doesnt play football…u cud see the zeal in their eyes..Let me tell u it is not il luck that let to the defeat of inter if that is what u think..inter was a pale shadow of itself most of the players that were on blazing form last year are a pale shadow of themselves..Schalke proved to be superior in every department of the game…i wonder if u really wateched the game.
Sabacious let me ask u this question was Spain the best team in the just ended world cup or they won the cup based on luck!!If u are technically and tactically good…the emphasis here is technically and tactically good u get good results..none of these African teams you mentioned are technically good and have much character as ghana…U cant always be right u know??
The good teams can not always win….how many times has cote divoire dissappointed Africa..countless and countless of times…when is thier good days coming let me know since you say the best teams dont always win….they have proven to be perrennial underachievers and u still insist they are better than a quarter finalist in the just ended world cup…Sabacious shine ur eyes..lol
@blackstar defender,am glad you n i agree on da fact dat u are a BIG FOOL,at least i can sleep well 2nite but pls pls stop suckin sabacious dick
@ sabacious, and bs defender: teams with leading goal scorer in league dont always win tournament. at least Korea/Japan 2002 proved that to us in which the defending champions france were having three goal kings from three leagues .ie. trezeguet from serie A, Henry thiery from EPL and djibril Cisse from ligue one, in the world cup but could only manage to finish last their group. They even had Zidane to some extent. cameroon may have benoit assou-ekkoto but a mere hans sarpei help schalke reached the semi finals of the champions league further pointing out to the power of team work rather than individuality. sabacious some of your comments are valid so becareful that you dont always remain the proverbial lizard which defecate black faeces and put white spot at the tip of the faeces.
hahahha guys takei it easy on sabacious.
he is just showing off.let me tell u something,as i have already said, individuals dont win games but team work does.
let us take my beloved league the german bundesliga for an example.just look at teams like fsv mainz 05,freiburg n hannover 96.in comparison to bayern münchen, vfb stuttgart, werder bremen n vfl wolfsburg, these teams like mainz, hannover n freiburg were dubbed relegation candidats before the season started but mainz, hannover n freiburg surprised all of these teams n they are all in the top ten of the bundesliga.
this shows that gone are the days when u rely on individuals to win a game, the game of football today is like mathematics.u have to be able to calculate, read n study ur opponent.
a team like hannover 96 plays powerplay.when i talk of power play im talking about figthing for the ball, winning the ball n countering to score.this is the type of game which is on.
as ma brother POPO said, football is all about the tactics n the right game approach.names dont play ball but rather teanm work n we all saw it at the worldccup ith teams like ghana, uruguay, germany n usa performing well.
argentina flopped against germany becuz they were relying on their superstar messi.the german team work destroyed messi’s game.
SABACIOUS u may be right by saying ivory coast, senegal n cameroon have the best individual players but let me tell u,they dont have a team so no wonder they disgrace their various countries.do u kno how many ivorians n cameroonians were cheering up for ghana during the worldcup?sabacious do u also kno how many ivorians n cameroonians were dissappointed in their teams?sometimes lack of information makes u write things u dont kno.it may be true that most of the b.stars players dont perform at their various clubs but when it comes to national assignment they play their hearts out n they are gaining world recognition.
ur critics at the blackstars are uncalled for becuz the team is having success n still yet u are negative minded.i guess u grew up in an negative enviroment thats why u are so negative minded.its not ur fault, blame the negative enviroment in which u grew up.
Good teams doesnt always win games hey barca, real, united, lvpool etc are they not winning? and what is statistic in futball?
@sabacious, i see pissed u off big time…u are indeed da foolish fool i tot u werr, i respect parents so i wudnt get dem involved…BUSHMAN LIKE U, da forum was wayyyy better wen u decided to comment on it.
guy…i’ve sat down and tot about wat u guys have said and i think i realize my mistake. see, my mother birth to me at only 7 months so my brain functions didnt develop properly. this is da reason i sometimes write stupid n foolish comments…PLEASE FORGIVE ME
Maka, that is a lovely comment. You have said enough on the issue and see how the nay sayers have ignored you. When the truth is brought to the light they ignore it. The BS have been trifled with severely and that is all that I and Sabacious have tried to bring to the light. For whatever reason the door has been locked on players that would prove useful and useless players get constantly called up…Every time Prince Tagoe even scores a goal in practice they write TEN ARTICLES, yet Eric Bekoe scored 19 goals in 32 games and where were his articles? They do not even publish about Buaben or Jeffery Sarpong. We have to be aware of the corruption and unfairness that is taking place. I am warning all that GH Football will soon fade if players like Agyemang Badu are guaranteed to wear our number 8 jersey every game. Let us also realize that Cameroon, South Afrika, and Ivory Coast all scored more goals than Ghana in the “run of play” during the group stage of the WC. In fact Ivory Coast and South Afrika finished group play with the same number of points as Ghana, just they were in very difficult groups. Lets not be blinded to the truth, there must be a revolution, I want to see the best and brightest in our colors! Jeffery Sarpong! Prince Buaben! Wakaso Mubarak! Afriyie Acqah! Eric Bekoe! They all deserve a CHANCE……
@BlackStar Defender…u are truely a blackstars disgrace, clearoff
soccernet must really done something about this idiot who is using my name sabacious to post comments on this forum.the above last two comments is not from me.i guess most u guys got my point wrong.the point i was trying to say,we shouldnt think all is well with the stars cos most of our first 11 will not even be on the bench of other african teams, asuch there is the need to cast our net wide and stop the favouristim and nepotism.
