Mubarak Wakaso has been fined and told to train alone by Espanyol after reporting late

Spanish La Liga side Espanyol have fined Mubarak Wakaso and ordered him to train away from his teammates after returning late from the Africa Cup of Nations.

Wakaso was in action for Ghana at the competition until last weekend’s third place play-off defeat to Mali and was due back a couple of days later.

However, he only returned to Catalonia on Thursday and has subsequently been fined and told to train by himself until otherwise instructed.

The 22-year-old told reporters upon returning to Spain that a fever had been the reason for his delay and that he had already informed Coach Javier Aguirre of this.

However, reports today are that Aguirre and sporting director Oscar Perarnau expressed their his actions.

He was then asked to train alone, accompanied only by one of the coaching team.

Wakaso was a revelation at the 2013 tournament as he emerged as joint top scorer with four goals.

GFA & AA are you there???

    • texas says:

GFA & AA must offer support now! They need to talk to Espanyol on Wakaso’s behave.

      • texas says:

I mean GFA and AA need to talk to Espanyol on Wakaso’s behalf.

        • Zambia Soccerman says:

GFA should not do anything, but talk to Wakaso abide by the rules. If he was sick then he should informed his club earlier and get a doctors note, so I don’t understand what you guys are talking about. So Ghana FA should stand up to indiscipline behavior? Seriously? If he wanted to attend family issues he should asked for permission from his club period, and they would have allowed him to stay longer, if he was sick he should have done the same. Go see doctor and not just go AWOL.

This kid is great but am not a fun which is ok. looking at is demeanor, am sorry to say this is exact what manifestation. He should be subjected to the full rigors of the law, which might help him.

  2. Zambia Soccerman says:

Atleast he back at his club. Sunzu is at sunderland doing trials. Kalaba and Himoonde are in Chilenje South in Lusaka kicking it with them girls. African players ..most of them African players lack discipline..I don’t much about about ghana players, Zambian are like that. Remember Mbesuma in 2005. He was supposed to a promising young player, then never show up to his clubs until after 2 weeks or so. You could see the guy in the bars with like 5 girls around him. Wakaso is a great player and young, Play time will come, but now just focus and make that money. Whats wrong with African kids?

    • Black Stars Fan says:

It’s the fans that made them demi-gods, always singing their praises and over hyping them. The results: over-bloated egos.
The Nigerian defender (Ambrose) after playing gallantly at AFCON went back to his club to cause them a serious defeat, why? over-bloated ego. That’s the reason why I love Atsu and Kwadwo so much, highly talented but very humble and respectful.
BTW. please, do not bring Zambian story here again, we are not interested. Nigeria is your husband now.

      • Wes says:

Let the truth be told,Nigeria is the undisputed giant of West Africa and if you have problem with Zambians support for them,go kill yourselves. They have so much influence in Africa and my advise to Nigerians is to pretend as if Ghana does not exist to stop this supposed funny rivalry Ghanaians pretend to have with them.It is like setting up an Ant and Elephant for a fight..Up Chipolopolo..Hahahaha

  3. CHICO says:

No one can talk to Espanyol on hi behalf like you think. He had to follow the rules like any other player. If the GFA delayed his return, then i understand somebody interceeding but if refused to report after released by GFA, then is himself against Espanyol. Good luck to the boy though.

  4. mikron says:

@wes hahahahahahahaha i love ur comment. dont mind them. they call themselves black stars, they re dim stars now. black stars my foot. under-achievers. always rubbing shoulders with Nigeria. piss off dim stars. mali’s wives. u allow Mali that has never defeated Nigeria to teach u football lessons twice. why? that will never happen in Nigeria my great country. Mali? no way

  5. saxcee says:

@wes, we aint even ready from any argument.
the facts say for themselves and even Nigerians respects us as much as we do..
anyway why bring zambia when African super powers are talking???

  6. The Great says:

The meaning of his name in my mother language is ‘selfish’ thats why those actions. Zambian players are disciplined.

  7. P.K.K tainFM says:

Espanyol should take it calm and Wakaso must also try to be a good boy.
