Vitoria Guimaraes delighted with David Addy's AFCON snub

David Addy left out of Ghana's squad for 2013 Nations Cup

Vitoria Guimaraes are jubilating over David Addy’s exclusion from the Ghana squad for the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations.

The 22-year-old was hoping to make his first Nations Cup appearance following an impressive debut season with the Portuguese club.

But the left-back was dealt a major blow when he was left out of the Black Stars’ provisional 26-man squad for the tournament that kicks off on January 19 in South Africa.

News of Addy’s snub has been flamboyantly reported on Vitoria’s official website with coach  Rui Vitoria overjoyed by ‘his good luck’.

The ex FC Porto player has become an integral part of the side since arriving on a permanent deal at the beginning of the season.

Vitoria’s joy is even more evident with the knowledge El-Arbi Hilal Soudani and Issam El Adoua are likely to join the Algeria and Morocco national teams respectively for the tournament.

David is a player I admire so much. I believe we should give him more time to develop in the game, so is a good thing for him to be dropped. We will definately drop him when he starts picking up injuries, and that will be anotther sad news. We should give him time to grow natuarally and attain stardom. That will provide hime sufficient room for discernment, so that he does’nt struggle like the Appiahs and the Asseins, who are now struggling with injuries. If he could quite recollect there was one Opoku in their squad who was very much so much gifted and now struggling with injuries which has kept him out of the game,so he should play it cautiously and he will get there.

@robandy u clearly don’t know what u are talk about, it is time that BS call him to groom himself into the team and grow with the team. What do u mean by injuries, he is not a player with injury problems. He clearly deserved a spot in the BS squad. Ahhh we take players like alhassan, nuhu, etc. That have not even developed in the game but we took them previously. So stop.! Addy should just concentrate on his club and forget BS. The Blackstars and their committee members need to grow up and stop this childish dirty bribe business they got going on.
God bless GH and the GH Blackstars
