Japan star Keisuke Honda is fighting to win the infamous award of the miss-of-the season after fluffing an open goal from six yards out during their friendly against Ghana on Tuesday.
The Russia-based midfielder got himself into contention for the unwanted award after skying an effort over the bar from six yards out during the game in Yokohama.
The chance came in the 28th minute when Yoichiro Kakitani burst through the midfield, latched onto the outlet pass and curled a perfect ball around Ghanaian defence and onto the foot of Honda.
But some credit must go to Ghana goalkeeper Razak Brimah who went in full stretch even though he was beaten, providing a real impediment to the Russia-based midfielder.
Honda later redeemed himself with a goal as Japan won 3-1.
