Asamoah Gyan has opened his goalscoring account in Al Ain’s 4-2 defeat to Al Hilal in the finals of the 2013 AIFC.

The Ghana striker scored from a spot kick in the 68th minute to launch a mini comeback that was not to be in the end as the Boss were 3-0 down at the time.

The match played at the Khalifa bin Zayed Stadium saw new star signing Michel Bastos also scoring his debut goal for the UAE champions.

Al Hilal had taken a 15th minute lead through Nasser Al Shumrani in the game the thoroughly controlled by the Saudi team.

Castillo made it 2-0 for Hilal nine minutes later before Nasser scored his second first minutes to recess.

Al Ain however hit back with Gyan slotting home a penalty in the 68th minute before new signing Bastos brought the side back into the game with a powerful finish in the 78th minute.

Al Ain’s hopes were however crashed in added on time as Adel Hermash scored to ensure the pre-season tournament headed for Saudi Arabia.

Hilal recieved AED 300,000 (almost $82,000) as their cash prize for winning gold while Al Ain got AED 100,000 less (almost $55,000) for placing second.

The AIFC is an annula pre-season tournament organized by Al Ain which features four teams.

This year had Al Riffa and Kazma as the other two teams that participated in the tournament.
