Veteran trainer JE Sarpong wants the immediate return of Michael Essien to the Black Stars.
The 29-year-old played his first full game for Real Madrid in their 2-0 win at Rayo Vallecano in their rearranged La Liga clash on Monday night.
The Ghanaian super star impressed heavily for the Whites â⬓leaving many Chelsea fans scratching their head and wondering whether the decision to allow him to leave could come back to haunt them.
The experienced ex-Liberty Professionals tactician is urging Ghana boss Kwesi Appiah to recall him for the return fixture of the 2013 African Cup of Nations qualifier against Malawi next month.
ââ¬ÅI think he (Essien) should immediately be called into the Black Stars,â⬠Sarpong told Accra-based Happy FM
ââ¬ÅHe has started playing and there is no need for him to stay away. I think the coach should talk to him about returning to the national team with immediate effect.
ââ¬ÅEssien is a calm man. He will play at any position that is given him. Even if he comes on a substitute it will be good for him.
ââ¬ÅIn my candid opinion, we need him in the team and should be as soon as possible.ââ¬
The Ghanaians need all their experienced players available for the crucial return leg against the Flames in à the capital Lilongwe.
