Ghanaian utility defender Jeffrey Schlupp was in splendid shape for Leicester City in their 6-1 commanding pre-season victory over English lower-tier side Ilkeston FC.

The 21-year-old was among the batch of players who were introduced by manager Nigel Pearson before the start of the second-half at the New Manor Ground.

With the side fielded in the first-half producing just a 2-0 lead, a well-oiled side including the German-born Ghanaian helped the Foxes to record a handsome win, scoring four more goals in the second-half.

Schlupp is expected to make his Premier League debut when the 2014/15 English top-flight league resumes however, he will need to fight for his place in the squad as the club is billed for new signings to beef up the squad.

The German-born, who is capped twice by Ghana played a crucial role in Leicester City's promotion campaign and manager Pearson could reward him with regular playing minutes in the EPL.

He was part of Ghana's preliminary 2014 World Cup squad but was dropped.
