Ghana defender Nana Akwasi Asare scored the opener and set up the third in their 3-1 win over VVV Venlo in the Dutch Eredivisie on Saturday.

The 26-year-old left-back restored parity for Utrecht on the 43th minute mark with a fine effort.

He applied a first time effort to a Van der Maarel effort which had been blocked by the Venlo goalkeeper two minutes before the interval.

He then set up Alexander Gerndt for the third goal in the 62nd minute mark.

ghanasoccernet pls advocate 4 Asare 2 be called back into de black stars.

  2. real sabacious says:

NO COMMENTS! i’m sick and tired of commenting the same story daily!this guy has been the most consistent player in europe for past 3yrs.belgium and then holland. The Eredivisie is one of the top leagues in the world, asuch a player consistency is not a fluke but strangely.these corrupt officials in charge of ghana football prefers players, who are plying their trade in lesser leagues like the chinese, south Africa, ukraine, thailand and Tunisia.is time the press and the football fans of Ghana put press on Akwasi Appiah to invite wakaso,Abeyie and nana akwasi cos thes players are far better than acheampong, afful, lee addy, adiyiah and inkoom.enough of the bribe!!

    • Nii kwatei says:

And I’m sick and tired of GSN. Why? Because Asare is not a left-back but a midfielder. And that’s exactly the reason he’s never called up, cause he would always play second fiddle to Muntari, Asamoah and Ayew. Please GSN, stop portraying him as a left-back. He’s not!

  3. julius says:

i have always said that the best left back to come from Ghana in the last decade is this guy. what has he done?

  4. kwame antwi says:

    i agree with sabacious

  5. Words says:

Is strange that this guy is not given a chance to play in the blackstars even with th problem of our left back. I think is abt high time the media did campaign for this guy to be given a chance in the BS.

  6. Cwecu says:

I agree with all of you…I’ve been following this guy all the way 4rm KV Mechelen in Belgium and now captain of Utrecht FC, Holland….tell me, which ghanaian player has been consistent than this player?…Akwasi Appiah wise-up…I know u are a good coach and can do the job…don’t let those gurus in the GFA persuade you!!!!

  7. maka says:

our journalists are useless don’t u know? they only make noise n talk abt foolish things instead of putting stuff in d press that will make kwasi appiah explain his omission of akwasi asare, abeyie or wakaso.

i keep saying that d GFA and these corrupt coaches create problematic positions that dont exist so that they can put their fake n mediocre players there! so who can really boldly tell me that of all the players we have home n abroad, we don’t have an excellent left back?
Akwasi Appiah won’t take us anywhere o people…look, in our last game against Zambia…n even China, players that could have filled this slot were Kissi Boateng, Wakaso, or Akwasi Asare….yet, what did coach Appiah do? Am beginning to think he’s either corrupt as well, or dumb…or both….not to be calling consistent, in-form players like Akwasi Asare! Which player is captaining a team in such a tough league like the Eredivisie Coach? Dumb ass….u have a solution and yet complain or keep trying square pegs in round holes….am SMH! Journalists…either campaign for the quality players or STFU!

  8. J.A says:

In fact u guys hv said it all n i hv nothing to say. All wat i can say is God help gha.

  9. bbc says:

God help Ghana and please my forum friends let pray for Essien cos he his going through a rough time at Chelsea. We adviced him to leave the team but never listen. It was a big shame for him being unused substitute in the community shield and the first game of premiership.Hmmmmmmmmmm

  10. real sabaciouss says:

@nii kwatei, check ur facts well! nana akwasi asare is an outright left full back!but the coach of utrecht prefers to use him at the left side of midfield.if i may ask,is inkoom a midfielder?nana akwasi and wakaso all started their career as left ful back but can play in the left side of midfield as well.
