USA have unveiled their new kit to be used at the 2014 World Cup but will be unable to use it against Ghana in the opening Group G game due to a colour clash.

The Yanks will be donning a classic all-white strip manufactured by Nike throughout 2014.

The new design was unveiled at a ceremony held in Chicago on Monday with captain Clint Dempsey modelling in the new strip.

The jersey incorporates a classic white with gray horizontal pinstripes across the body and sleeves.

It also features a classic white polo shirt collar with red trim with a blue pennant tab with the 13 stars from the original American flag in the inside the back of the neck.

The colour of the new kit however clashes with that of Ghana – USA’s opponent for the opening Group G match of the 2014 World Cup in Brazil.

This means the Yanks will be made to don their secondary kit as the Black Stars are the official home side for the June 16 clash in Natal, GHANAsoccernet.com checks have revealed.

This is a massive psychological boost for Ghana as the good luck charm the Americans hope to be associated with their new home strip will not be in play as the players will be wearing their secondary kit when they face the Black Stars.

The Americans can however count on their perceived good luck charm when they face Portugal and Germany in their subsequent group games at the World Cup.
