Referee J.A Amenya accused of biased officiating by the Hearts fans

Referee J.A Amenya has apologized for making mistakes in the thrilling Accra derby between Great Olympics and Hearts of Oak.

The Accra-based referee failed to award the Phobians a clear penalty in the opening minutes of the game which eventually ended in a goalless draw.

Amenya has already been reported to the Ghana FA by Hearts over claims of biased officiating.

The referee has also been accused for issuing only a yellow card instead of a red following a brutal tackle on Hearts defender Robin Gnagne.

Hearts of Oak supporter’s chief Barima Atuahene claims he has solid intelligence that the referee is in the pocket of officials of Great Olympics.

Amenya admits he made genuine mistakes in the game but dismissed reports he was acting in favour of perceived paymasters at Olympics.

“I admit I made a mistake,” he told Happy FM.

“After watching replays I admit I made a mistake [referring to the disallowed penalty].

“But I always approach games with a clear conscience and therefore it is not true that I am in the pocket of officials of Great Olympics or any other club for that matter.”

The GFA’s Match Review Panel are likely to take jurisdiction of Hearts’ official complaint.

They will review the performance of the referee and proffer sanctions if deemed necessary.
