Under-fire Black Stars coach Kwesi Appiah believes he did a decent job

Posted On Sunday, 10th February 2013

Kwesi Appiah says he has done well

Ghana coach Kwesi Appiah believes he deserves some praise despite finishing a disappointing fourth place at the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations.

The ex-Ghana captain and a member of the 1982 winning team was tasked by his employers to win the trophy when he was appointed in April last year.

But his inability to better last year’s fourth-place finish has drawn a lot criticisms and pressure on the Ghana Football Association to part ways with him.

Appiah’s tactical approach to matches at the tournament has come under scrutiny with heads split on his future.

Ghana’s lame performance in the 3-1 penalty shootout semi-final defeat to Burkina and another poor display in the 3-1 defeat to Mali for third place have not helped matters.

But the soft-speaking trainer, who presented a youngish squad including ten debutants, has defended the team’s achievement.

“I have had this team for almost ten months now and I have introduced eleven young players into this competition [Nations Cup],” Appiah said.

“When you are building a team, I mean a national team, it takes time to be hundred percent sure.

“I would say the players have done so well by getting to the semi-finals.

“I don’t expect that when you are building a team, you can suddenly think you can win everything. I personally believe that they have done so well.”

Appiah’s next assignment will be a crucial 2014 FIFA World Cup qualifier against Sudan at home in March.

I am not suprise this PE instructor’s comments.Because he knows no matter what Nyantekyi will keep for them to eat the money together.you were chosen to win the cup not to finish 4th my black stars is too big for you and we ghanaians are tired of been beaten by so-called weeping boys of africa. If we start building by chasing this useless guy then ghana will never qualify for brasil 2014.I was shocked we couldn’t even finish 3rd we Ghanaians are tired of taking chances.

    • Asamoah Gyan says:

      Preamble:
The first president, Kwame Nkrumah decided to propel his ideology to Africa and the World at large and as a matter of fact, used the BS as a symbol of victory and success by the black man.
He used the Kankan nyame as the corner stone upon which the BS was built.[Nkrumah Was an idol worshiper]
He then espoused and propelled his ideologies by the continuous success of BS and the of course rituals/sacrifices to the “kankan nyame”
      situation
Now there is no pacification for the god.
      Solution
      1. Pacify the “kankan nyame” the foundation stone os Black Stars
      2. Change the name Black Stars to something else[best choice]
Nigeria found them selves in similar situation in time past, all they did was to change their name.
untill we sort the challenge no cup 4 BS.
      A word to the wise…………

The future is bright as they say, the future has been taked about since AFCON in Angola, and yet the same issue has risen, This was suppose to be where the future has brought us, and players like Pantsil, Gyan, D.Boateng, all be gone, and Muntari, Essien inserted. Politic in Soccer needs to stop, let the Coach make his own selection but Ayew shouldnt have been dropped anyways, without Dede Ayew on the left was blow, with Asante on the right would have been a killer, I hope he learns to bring in those two regardless was GFA did to him as a captain with Abedi.

      • Is Appiah serious says:

Coach Appiah is a joke and if has been a perspective he could have done better. He was not brought to build a team. The was already there all that he needs was tohow to in the new ones.Appiah your problem was dropping the faithfuls and going for bench warmers. Black Stars played colts and if you are lucky to be mentain then you need to think twice from the way you manage your players. BS was boring that doe the first time I stop watching them playing…

    • GH FUO, THINK BIG!!! says:

WE FIRED PLAVI AFTER BARELY 1 YR FOR NON PERFORMANCE AT AFCON 2012. WHY SHOULDNT WE FIRE AA AS WELL.

  2. yopoo says:

This who doesn’t have any coach licence has finish us this was opportunity for us to win this afcon.
Appiah go and coach some academy somewhere we don’t need you.You are the most useless coach Ghana have ever had.

  3. Viper says:

Ofcourse, you did a decent job but wasn’t good enough,we can’t afford any slip-ups in the world cup qualifiers. You learn from your mistakes. In a tournament, you have to have the confidence of all your players, this meaning giving other players the chance to showcase their talents yet you stuck with virtually the same line and substitution, the players must feel part of the team.Asamoah Gyan was misfiring yet still stuck with him,Vorsah and Boye were useless, again they still played, you have to be bold enough to substitute any wasteful player.

    • Africanus says:

He stuck with the same players because he found out belatedly that beyond the first eleven the rest of the 23 man squad were not deserving of a Black Stars bench. Most of his invitees were simply not up to Black Stars standard, including some among the first eleven such as Gyan. It will be nice for Appiah to admit that he made a lot of tactical mistakes and tell Ghanaians how he intends to correct them if and when he is allowed to continue in his position.

  4. yurigagarin says:

wh@ makes u believe d@…..keep ur words to ur self nd go away u gud for nothing coach……..u re a disgrace resign b4 we start demo against u nd ur stupid employers gfa…..

  5. yopoo says:

If this coach doesn’t get fired I’ll fly to Ghana and organise a demonstration against him we dnt like him at all we are tired of being disgrace by small countries.

  6. Viper says:

Local coaches are the way to go.Local coaches build teams, look at Nigeria.the thing is you have to choose the RIGHT local coach. An ambitious coach would have had so much from the current Black Star, what the coach lacks is ambition, you would seem to think as a former captain of the Black stars and a winner of the AFCON,he would know whats at stake and really motivate what is a really talented team yet fail to motivate them and you could see from their uninspiring play.An ambitious coach would have gotten so much from this squad.Without even pausing to think,I would have appointed Silas Tetteh for the Black Stars job.

      • Quincy Owusu Abeyie says:

If you appoint Silas Tetteh you have not solve the problem. Despite the fact that he is good, he would still be controlled by the GFA and their Serbian and French agents. What we need is a coach who has the balls like our former coach Burkhard Ziese. We have good Ghanaian born players all over the world. Most of these players want to play for their motherland or fatherland but GFA do not want them to compete with their home grown boys because they making money from them. Quincy Owusu-Abeyie, Elvis Manu, Kelvin Boateng just to mention a few need to give these home growns Gyan, Rabiu etc competition. This is the only way to have a trophy winning team. Enough of GFA politics!!!

  7. Josimar kwesi says:

Appiah did well but his best wasn’t gd enuf, time to call bak the 2ayews bak if they agree to cum, changin a coach nw wunt be a smart decision, let him look for a solid left bak and a sharp No 9 cos gyans pace are gone ind dusty pitches of UAE.its well ghana, beta luck nxtime

    • Pito says:

Oboi, we know that about Gyan, but Gyan is tied to A.A.
If A.A does not go and the captainship is striped to any other player, confusion will come into the team. That is why A.A must go for Gyan to be omitted and a new coach who will build around our best materials. You should find time and watch one of the UAE league games. Prince Tagoe started scoring in Arab league.

  8. John says:

I don’t why he said he has performed,i am a naija man,but l love ghanaian football, what of our own keshi who builds naija team just for two months? Nonsense! You have no excuse.Gone are the days when they used to call ghana africa brazil because of their sexy game, hmmmmm…GFA should back on drawing board and see what has actually led to this wishy-washy team.

    • Quincy Owusu Abeyie says:

Its the Serbian tactics of defending and playing one striker upfront. I thought the Blackman would use his initiative to play the attacking football we played during his time as a coach but he chose the serbian formation so that ther would be no competition upfront for Gyan.

  9. John says:

I don’t know why he said he has performed,i am a naija man,but l love ghanaian football, what of our own keshi who builds naija team just for two months? Nonsense! • Ghanaman says:

Are you talking about the same Nigeria that could not beat Ethiopia without penalties and failed to beat Burkina and Zambia? If the ref did not give you the penalties in the group stages you would have failed.

      • TruGhanaian says:

@ghanaman. How many of our victories did we achieve with clean cut victories, we too were assisted by referees. how many goals did we score if not tru penalty kicks. don’t be jealous man, congratulate achievements so it will come to us.

    • CEREBRAL says:

AA has hit the ceiling of his creativity, why should he admit his flaws. If AA was innovative he would see the pedigree of players he is working with. But it is not only players that win matches, the coach should have a profound understanding of the game in addition to being shrewd and intelligent. You must know your players and make use of their attributes: runners, dribblers, set piece takers, etc. The coach must also know the teams he plays against. AA couldn’t sub Gyan….that smells of corruption. GHANA IS DOOMED IN FOOTBALL IF CHANGE DOES NOT OCCUR.

  10. vybz shatta wale says:

the disgrace and disappointment is enough..u cant spend our tax payers money for mediocrity..u were tasked to win the afcon not build a team..we already had a team from last years afcon but due to ur selfish interest u left out the ayew brothers…it saddens my heart dat the FA cant be dissolved but mugabe nyantechi and his mafia surbodiates must go we r tired of their failures..

  11. TRIBAL COACH says:

KEEP THIS CLUELESS AND USELESS COACH AND WAVE GOODBYE TO THE WORLD CUP.

  12. Dr Who says:

He did well by getting to the semi but I dont think that is what we want.Frankly speaking I dont think the timing is good to sack him.He lost to a tough Burkina team through penalties and a disspirited performance against a resolute Malian side who had a better teamwork than ours.our players are partly to be blamed for our woes.eg all those penalty misses we have suffered over the past are the faults of our players. No coach takes penalty.we even read along the line that the team had been practicing penalty everyday when we got to quarter finals so how come when it got to the day of reckoning they blew all away? I wonder how professionals like our stars could play catastrophic penalties like that. How many coaches havent we changed over the yrs? Do we also have to blame AA for yesterdays penalty miss too? The game could have changed had Wakaso scored.I blame our coach for not varying our play instead of constantly attacking on the left side of mali without crossing the ball.Personally,I think the team failed collectively.

  13. CLUELESS COACH says:

SINCE 2010,GHANA HAS BEEN BUILDING A TEAM.THIS CLUELESS TRIBAL COACH HAS BEEN WITH THE TEAM SINCE 2008 AND STILL HAS THE GUTS TO TELL US HE DID GOOD.LETS FORGET ABOUT QUALIFYING FOR THE WORLD WITH THIS CLULESS COACH.BYE BYE BS ,NO ORLD CUP NEXT YEAR

  14. The Great says:

Do u think Zambia will sit back and watch small countries like Ghana qualify 2 the World Cup?

  15. 25 Million Ghanaian Coaches says:

The S.W.O.T analysis is showing that he did not do a decent job. He didnt use all of his Strengths and Opportunities to build the team. Certain players who should have been in the team to strenthen the team were left out.We had people who could have played at the left back position. What is a dead horse like Derek Boateng doing in the team?
Where are the Ayew brothers. Afriyie Acquah is better than some of the mildfeilders he used.
He should pay for it. Gooooooooooooo!!!

  16. carruthersman says:

Infact, I support Local coaches, but after watching A. Appiah in this tournament, I have now realised that he is TACTICALLY and TECHNICALLY BANKCRUPT. To simply put it, he doesn’t know what to do when the going gets tough.
How could he allow Gyan in the game for 75 mins, when he’s been played out of the game, when we were down by 2 goals.
Infact we need a better tactical local coach for A.A to be his assistance. my goodness, bra Akwasi, enko ye kro aah ( it doesn’t go well at all )

  17. CY BOBO says:

ALL THINGGS BEEN EQUAL, WHETHER WIN OR NO WIN THIS COACH MUST. HE JUST CAME TO DISMANTLE THE TEAM RATHER THAN BUILD, HE HAS NO IDEA WHAT SO EVER IS GOING ON. HE WAS AN ASSISTANT COACH FOR 8 GOOD YEARS AND COULD NOT LEARN ANYTHING FROM PREVIOUS GOOD COACHES, THEES ARE THE KIND OF PEOPLE THAT WILL SIT THE SSCE 10 TIMESS BUT WILL STILL FAIL. I BEG MASA COMOT YOURSELF BEFORE I COME DO IT MYSELF. NONSENSE

  18. slogan says:

Why appiah leave us alone,we don’t need any explaination the fact is dat u’ve failed since,u dropped experience players 4 inexperience once u just lack strategy and 4sight.just leave!

  19. Mojahadine says:

What is this idiot laughing about? Akwesi Appiah has lost all his credibility to say anything. He sabotage MILO to get the job and what do we get for it? a worse off Black Stars. He needs to be removed due to the miserable and the pathetic nature of the Ghana Black Stars performance at the AFCON. His uninspiring and miserable coaching coupled with consistently putting Asamoah Gyan upfront knowing perfectly well that this single player has squandered most of the opportunities Ghana had to score goals. Ghana’s downfall at the AFCON was solely due to Asamoah Gyan’s stupidity, diminished skills and lack of self control to convert lots of opportunities that any average striker could have converted to goals.

It’s about time someone expose Asamoah Gyan for who he is as a mediocre striker. All the pied pipers of the Ghana media seem to blow his horn and yet they fail to realize that this guy scores a ton of goal s at his D-league in UAE but in tougher competitions like the AFCON he fails to deliver. So why do they keep calling him to the Black Stars? Bribery. It is time a better alternative is found. He is not the only striker that can come from Ghana. He is bringing the Black Stars down. All other African countries are improving while the BS is regressing. Are you kidding me, Black Stars can’t beat Bokina Faso and Mali? Unbelievable.

Just looking at the playing style of Nigeria’s Super Eagles and I am even ashamed to call myself a Black Stars fan. Their extremely accurate passes, creativity, intelligence made me very very jealous. While the Black Stars passes were intercepted at every attempt or two, the Nigerians were very calm, controlled and held the ball for as long as they could making the opposition like the Ivory Coast and Mali looking very discouraged. It was very disgraceful to watch the Black Stars play with no sense of direction. It was very humiliating to watch them.

The only way to improve the Black Stars is to dump Akwesi Appiah and his coaching staff, replaced him with winners and a more competent coaching staff led by Sillas Tetteh with Kuuku Dadzie assisting him to strengthening the defense.

The GFA as it stands now is filled with idiots of a particular tribe that I do not even want to mention. That association is supposed to be a representation of the most qualified football administrators, scouts and qualified coaches in Ghana but instead what we have there are beggars, bastards and corruptible elements who are practicing nepotism, cronyism and tribalism.

The only way Ghana will ever win another AFCON will be to remove Nyantakyi and his gang of robbers as well as ending the Black Stars careers of players like Asamoah Gyan and Derek Boateng.

    • truth says:

masa I am an Akan (Ashanti/Bono/Fante) but I bet you is not about the tribe of those in charge but their incompetence and stupid politics.Nothing seems to be devoid of this stupid politics.I dont mean NPP NDC but football politics. We al knew AA was not ripe for the job but because of kick backs and certain associations this dude was given the post. What is most annoying is the uneducated, I repeat clueless media houses and sports journalist who campaigned for him due to his association with some club and city.

After we all chose to give him our support hoping he will be an honest man,but the guy has thrown away common sense and is also playing the football politics that is hunting all of us.Can someone tell me aside the Ayews wheren’t there other better players than Gyan, Kissi Boateng and those mediocre players he took there. Can someone tell me if these guys are better than Quincy,Waris and co.Nepotism,Cronism,Revenge and bRIBERY seems to be more important to the GFA and this coach.

Cans someone tell me one single match Akwasi Appiah has really demonstrated any tactical understanding of the game since he took over?? No wonder now Zambia and the likes think they are better than Ghana becos the truth is these so called mediocre teams are tactically better than us.Watch the match against Cape Verde once more and you will see how bankrupt Akwasi Appiah is technically.

Must we sack him????? Yes and No.
Sellas Tetteh could be of help as an assistant to the AA and Maxwell Konadu
or kick AA out and get us a competent foreign coach with Sellas and Maxwell as assistant and give AA time to improve with some local team cos the guy has little to no knowledge as a coach.

  20. Riquelme says:

@ghanaman. Wht has my fellow naija bro said dat is wrong? He’s just trying to give his own contribution positively bcoz of d love he have for ghanafutbol. U hav to stop living in d past. Moreover, d same zambian team dat u said we failed to beat were only lucky to escape with a stalemate, after mikel failed to convert d sportkick awarded to eagles earlier in d game. U urself could testify dat they only came out with a point after they had been awarded a dubious penalty later in d game like u ghana used to have. For d burkinafaso game yes, they deserved a draw in dat match after a poor defending towards d ends of d game from eagles. But is it not d same burkina faso dat teach and totally outplayed ur ghana team in d semi-final? I think u should be happy for holding d burkina babes to penalty shootout after they were denied two spotkick in an open play and a clean goal. Do u remember dat u were also given an unworthy penalty in d game just has d previous matches? U and ur fellow ghanains ought to be happy for not meeting Nigeria at dis afcon bcoz u would tamed and trashed. Well, with due respect to burkina faso, i knw d game tonight will not be an easy encounter but, with our determination, hardwork and with God on our side we shall come out victorious… HOW IS GHANA BRO? ARE GHANAIAN SUPPORTING NIGERIA TONIGHT?

  21. gentle john says:

What is he talking about?he should be ashamed of himself,to me he is not a coach because he does not know anything about coaching, maybe physical instructor, some former Blacks Stars players, local coaches and sport presenters are saying Kwesi Appiah should be given another chance,is it because he is a local coach? they know he is not good but they are afraid to say it open because people will say they are jealous of him, anybody who want GFA to give Kwesi Appiah another chance does not want anything good for Ghana football,i said it but people did not listen to me,they thought since we were wining by the help of referees the coach is good,i said it from day 1 that this coach is the worst Black Stars coach i have ever seen in many years,he should be kick out now before he destroy Black Stars,we need Milo Back or a top class coach.

  22. Ghanaian for G... says:

What time are we playing Nigeria tonight , we have to win we…return cup as juju team

  23. Tanko says:

Now that AFCON is over, it is time for us as GHANAIANS to face facts as well as realities. Ghana’s coach at AFCON has beat my critique to the extend that I want to give him credit. I never expected him to that far in the tournament, but he did! Now, Ghana needs a coach who can manage the egos of the playing body. AA did not fail when it comes to selection of players but failed woefully when it comes to managing the egos of the playing body. Adam Kwarasey came to camp with morals very high but left demoralized and now has to go back to “HIS STATION TO GET IT FIXED” AA failed on Kwarasey not because he did not use him but failed under the circumstances in which AA decided not to use him. Atrial match was at stake, you featured your number one choice in it. He failed, that doesn’t warrant any reasonable manager to drop the ward to the bench when you are approaching a tournament and that was what AA did. to be continued….

  24. Riquelme says:

@ghanaman. Nigeria were worthy of d penalties awarded to them in the ethiopia match… Can u swear that all d penalties given to black stars at dis ongoing (afcon) are a deserved penalty? pls when last did u beat d chipololopo of zambia?

  25. Ghanaian for G... says:

Lets keep him otherwise ..Wounded Zambia will come for us….lets forcus on the world cup…however with such penalty dependant display ..its bye bye to world cup qualifications

  26. junior mafia says:

U call dis a decent job u r not serious.u and nyantakyi went to SA to market playrs..like sami trabelsi pls resign before u disgrace ghana in da world cup qualifiers..4th is a good result on ur blank cv not for ghana…

  27. Redd says:

Eei Akwasi Appiah,i am so disappointed in you if truly these were your words. When you were leaving for the tournament did you tell us u were going there to rebuild?Do you think we would have agreed to pay you all that money if we knew the black stars were going there to rebuild?Your so-called captain went to the castle to tell the president he was going to bring the cup.You heard him and kept quiet. Why didnt u correct him by telling the president you were going there to rebuild.Naija went there with over 13 debutants but they are in the final.Typically black people cant accept that they have failed and the crusade to ‘GET AKWASI APPIAH SACKED’ has just begun.

  28. kwaku says:

    Dear kwesi Appiah,

I am writing on behalf of all football loving fans of Ghana to do the honourable thing and resign for the benefit of the nation. You claimed you did your best, however your best wasn’t enough. In fact, your best was mediocre at best. I think is time for your you to do the right thing and step aside. I truly believe that your inexperience coupled with your hard stance and not to mentioned the disrespect for certain players caused your demise. Personally, I don’t think you can repair the damage you’ve caused between the Ayew brothers as well as certain players in the short time before our next World cup qualifying engagement. I hope you take heart and realize that you are not up to the task and therefore the prudent to do is to step down. Good luck to you.

  29. Killer says:

I will keep on asking this Qion; since 92 until now we keep on changing coaches here and there but no positive out come, even in likes of Micheal essien, Junior Agogo,Suley M,S Appiah,J Mensah when Gha hosted the tournament in Accra and Kumasi still we only fought for third place and couldn’t lift the cup, now if we fired Appiah do Ghanaian think the BS is going to lift a cup? I think we need a better solution to the BS

  30. Desmond says:

Yes we need a local coach but this coach has breaking soo many hearts.I think Marcel desailly should be called back or Sellas tetteh should change positions with Akwasi Appiah. The problem we have is the One Top striker is not helping us at all.We need to hungry strikers.Yiadom can be paired with Jordan up front and i think it will make good results.Jordan can hold on the ball and take on defenders while Yiadom can do the finishing. Also in our Defends I think Marcel Desailly been a Defender can straighten our wired defends.I think Marcel Desailly will help the Black stars because he said he is bringing an assistance from chelsea.
YOU KNOW ONETHING THAN ANGERS ME IS THAT WHEN AKWASI APPIAH WAS GIVEN THE JOB ,HE CAME TO SACK ALL THE TECHNICAL TEAM.THE TECHNICAL TEAM WHO YOU HAVE WORKED WITH SOO MANY YEARS

    • Quincy Owusu Abeyie says:

I AGREE WITH YOU.This so called one striker on top had been secretly created to ensure that no other player competes with Gyan. It was installed by the Serbs with Virtus international and French agents managing Ghanaian players. Its complete mafia. Its time some1 at the FA realised that they have made enuff money, time to make Ghanaians happy and not their pockets. The selfishness must stop.NOW!!!

  31. Chu says:

No foreign coach has ever won the AFCON. the same way no local coach can take us to the WC. our mouths are too big.

  32. enoch says:

Ao Ghana! after 1992, no coach has been good for us. even the very ones who won the cups for were crucified. seriously we must Change our way of viewing football. we cannot all the time know better than every single coach we contract for the job.

  33. Wesley says:

LEAVE AA to finish what he was hired for and that is to take us to Brazil. All he needs now is our support and get his broaden his selection.

  34. vim says:

konadu is better than his boss. appiah has the best materials around except derek, badu and gyan buh he jus lacks tactical know-how. it seems he is goin b an assistant forever

  35. Queresi says:

Gentlemen dis is no time to start looking for new coach…We only got 4 weeks before we face-off with Sudan.A refresher course will do for AA.

  36. mukmin says:

Fire Appiah that’s the only thing that will appease us the fans. He is clueless I supported Tetteh for the job when it became vacant, but I supported Appiah ahead of Desailly because I considered him more local and also had more experience as an assistant coach compared to Desailly but in hindsight I think Desailly would have done better even with his limited experience. Appiah just doesn’t know what he’s doing and if he loves the team he should resign and let someone more competent take over native or foreign. We cannot keep him just because he’s a local coach that is idiotic it should be based on performance and performance has been erratic, inconsistent and shambolic not to mention his substitutions have been extremely bizarre. The job should be handed over to Tetteh asap since we don’t have time to look for a new coach before the WC qualifiers begin. Time is of the essence.

  37. Peewee says:

Kwesi Appiah is a great human being…he is humble and down to earth, he doesn’t deserve insults…but the fact as we have all seen from this tournament is that he is not a good coach. He is tactically bankrupt and is not fit to be the coach of the Black Stars. We were literally gifted a passage into the semi finals with fake penalty goals, and completely annahilated by Mali. I’m all for giving chances to African coaches on the continent, but we need a better one than Appiah.

  38. vim says:

have yall noticed how emmanuel agyemang badu is overrated? i mean the guy is sooo that he sits on the bench in a porous udinese team. its use who have made him thnk highly of himself. he is just too average. try singlin out a performance that u can confidently say that he was immense apart from the ghana v congo game at kumasi under goran stevanovic. agyemang badu must be droppd alongside d.boateng and the disgrace-filled a.gyan

  39. Jay says:

we dont built team in the national. we take the best. You dont have the time!!! We will suck you befor you built ur stinky team…

  40. Don says:

I think this incompetent and tactically bankruptcy PE coach should be sacked with immediate effect, he has no clue wht he was doing, his ego, tribalism, and past feud has cost us this cup, that was our best ever chance of lifting the cup, we never improved in any if the games we played in, our midfield was dead, our forward was dead beyond the grave n the defence was double dead, AA subs n selection was shocking to say the least, and am sorry to say all those who were invited are leaving with their moral so low it take a hell of of work to rebuild it, AA should be sacked ASAP cos this is a national pride not an experiment PE side.

  41. masani says:

i believe n support..yes he must be sacked n let him suck himself ,n i will really appreciate that we get a better tactical ,techinicall n brave African Ghanaian coach..they can lead us for any trophy in the LORDs name…..no more white coach for Ghana we r fed up wit them….but kwasi appiah is a looser tribalistic n will cont. down falling Ghana if we live him…..we need a patriotic coach who brings better players even when he hate them……GOD bless my homeland GHANA

  42. KK says:

Then you shouldn’t have promised to bring the cup. You should have told us you were building a team.

  43. Felix says:

Has anyone watched the post match analysis of today’s final on DSTV?
All the panelists categorically mentioned the technical deficiency of BS.When asked to make decision as if they were GFA boss, all went for the sacking of AA. His incompetence was so obvious during this AFCON,its a shame he is not throwing in the towel. He must be sacked now to save BS.Our world cup chances are domed if he continues to be in charge.

  44. JT says:

He picked second division players and bench warmers

  45. Selfmade says:

Sacking the coach is not the solution, lets give AA a refresher course in Brazil,Germany or even Spain etc otherwise theyz no time for looking for another coach considerig the W/cup match at hand.Wake-up Ghana.Viva the revolucioooooooooon!!!

  46. Score says:

Goodmorning guys…..i believe this is not about coach alone, we are failing to realise that Gyan now knows he has no competition in team so he plays to fit himself. Yes the coache’s tactics was very abysmal and annoying but have we sat down to also think about our plays? There is no cohesion in the team and its high time we drop some of the oldies in the team, talk of Paintsil and Derek and search for two shap and strong strikers. We have to go back to our attacking game. That is what we are noted for. Lets maintain the coach and please GFA, allow him to do his work. Have a blissful day.

  47. KK says:

I have nothing personal with Kwesi Appiah but from the very word go, I knew he was not good enough for the job. I do not consider him as an intelligent coach. He is inexperienced and a bit naive. His body language anytime Ghana is down says it all. Which football Club has he coached before.
Let’s call a spade a spade. Until the mafia set up in GFA is broken , God will never allow Ghana to win any cup. Quincy must be listened to. He knows what he is saying.
We all know how well Quincy played during AFCON 2008, what happened afterwards? Anytime a player is outspoken , he is made the devil. We have good players but GFA is a mafia society.
