Ukrainian side Dnipro make late Derek Boateng bid

Ukrainian club Dnipro are making attempts to sign Ghanaian midfielder Derek Boateng before the transfer windows closes on Monday.

Agents close to the deal have told GHANAsoccernet.com that they have approached his club Getafe.

They expect a response within two hours but the Ghanaian player is said not to be keen on the move.

It is unclear whether his Spanish club would accept the offer tabled by Dnipro who signed Samuel Inkoom last week

Boateng stated just last week that he is currently contracted to the club and intends to honour that, despite transfer interest from Valencia.

The Ghanaian enforcer has caught the eye of Los Che thanks to his performances for the Azulones both in this season and in 2009 when he was named the Madrid club’s player of the year.

As a result, the Champions League competitors want to add the 27-year-old to their squad for next season, and are thought to have made initial inquiries as to his availability.

However Boateng stated to the media that he sees his immediate future at the Coliseum Alfonso Perez, saying: “Currently I only think of Getafe, and I want to give the maximum for the team. I have a contract with Getafe.

“I am every happy with my teammates and my club. If offers arrive, it will be at the initiative of the club, but I say again that I am very happy at Getafe. Our goal is to achieve a good position in the league in order to repeat the success of last season.”

Boateng moved to La Liga from Koeln in 2009 for a fee of €1 million.
