Striker Asamoah Gyan is delighted to be the one to rescue Ghana from defeat in the friendly match against Turkey on Wednesday.

The Black Stars captain came on in the second half to score a brace to help his side secure a deserved 2-2 draw in Istanbul.

Ghana had fallen behind to two first half goals through Buruk Yilmaz and Umut Bulut.

The Black Stars however lifted their game aided by the effective changes made by coach Akwasi Appiah spearheaded by the deadly Gyan upfront.

The Al Ain ace first picked up a long assist from substitute goalkeeper Razak Braimah, cut in from the left to score at the near post to get Ghana back into the game.

He minutes later scored his second with a touring header off a sumptuous Daniel Opare cross to salvage Ghana’s pride in the end.

Gyan though admitting he wasn’t expecting to score much less hit a brace says he is happy to be his country’s saviour in the friendly match.

“Every attacker likes to score in the game but honestly I didn’t expect these two goals,” he said.

“They dominated the first half and were more aggressive. When I went on, the aim was to get an early goal before we can come back into the game.

“We got it and we had the belief but I wasn’t expecting to be the one to score, I thought someone else would score.

“As an attacker when I score I am happy and at least I have rescued Ghana.”

The friendly match served as further preparations for the Black Stars ahead of next month’s crucial 2014 World Cup qualifier against Zambia.

Interesting, when Ghana beat Sudan & Lesotho in Ghana, the Ghanaian talk was about how good the team is but now all of a sudden it’s Gyan talking bout how good he is; have faith in your team and talk about how good they are and could easily have been down 4-0 in the first half had Turkey taken more than a passing interest in the match! Ghana is in Big Trouble! There is no team to speak of!

At the end of the day the most relieved team, between Turkey, Senegal,Zambia,Nigeria,Ghana, must be Ghana, the most scared team must be Ghana, the team calling for major changes in all areas is Ghana! Ghana lives in a bubble and nothing like reality to prick a bubble hence the back shuffling, panting of breath, nervousness, letter writing, overall confusion. Ghana Watch Out!
