English-born Ghanaian defender Daniel Boateng is reported close to signing for Iran Professional League side Persepolis after being release by Arsenal.

According to reports carried by the Iranian press, the 21-year-old has secured an Iranian VISA and will fly to Tehran next week for medicals ahead of his move.

Boateng returned to Arsenal after finishing his loan deal at Hibernian in the Scottish Premier League but failed to convince the Gunners' manager of his relevance to his squad and has been released by the club.
