Black Stars prospect Marcel Appiah has signed a season's contract with Dutch Eerste Divisie side NEC Nijmegen, GHANAsoccernet.com can confirm.

The German-born versatile lateral defender passed medicals and inked the deal on Friday afternoon.

"I have passed medicals and signed a one-year-contract at the club and I'm happy to join and push them back to the Dutch top-flight," he told GHANAsoccernet.com exclusively.

Appiah decided against signing a new deal at German side Arminia Bielefeld and opted to go for a new challenge after spending over six seasons with them.

NEC manager Ruud Brood watched Appiah, who can play across various spots at the back-four and in attack, and signed him to help his promotion agenda.
