TP Mazembe make $200,000 offer to Kotoko for Frimpong

Frimpong wanted by TP Mazembe

T.P Mazembe have offered $200,000 to sign defender Yaw Frimpong from Asante Kotoko, GHANAsoccernet.com can exclusively reveal.

The 25-year-old was one of last season’s star performers in Kotoko’s impressive run to Premier League success.

The right-back’s performance has alerted several clubs of his quality of which the DR Congo giants have tabled an official bid for his services.

It is however unknown if Kotoko will be willing to let go of Frimpong especially with the start of their Premier League title defence on the horizon.

Kotoko have already lost influential defender Awal Mohammed and thus another departure especially at the rear could hurt their chances this season.

The Kumasi-based club also aim to make a huge impact upon their return to the CAF Champions League following their league success last term.

Frimpong played for Gomoa Fetteh Feyenoord and Ivorian club Asec Mimosas before joining Kotoko in 2011.

If kotoko will sell its key players then it has no business to play the CAF champs league.

  2. Owusu Isaac says:

I’m pleading to management not to sell Frimpong. We need Him so much.

  3. joe atiso says:

This is an insult for Kotoko to entertain selling a key player for a paltry sum of $200,000. The selling of players to other teams in Africa by Ghanaian clubs must cease and desist. How do you expect to compete with these teams in continental competitions? Our football administrators must find ways of raising funds to run their clubs other than wholesale off-loading of our best and up and coming players. It is no wonder our local league is a pale shadow of itself. Attendance at our premier league matches have been dwindling for the past 10 years and counting. We really need government intervention in the form of financial assistance to our local clubs and laws to ban the arbitrary selling of our best players to our competitors. What a shame!

if we sell our key player to a club that we are going to compete in the same competition, the we are not serious.we look forward to see what doctor kk and management will say!

Under no condition shd we sell Frimpong. I am om that Nii is living, he has served Kotoko well over the yrs and is replaceable. But Frimpong is not replaceable, at least not for now. He plays like Nkoom and i kn with a little more exposure, he will be a big hit in Europe. Pls don’t sell Frimpong…
