TP Mazembe have completed the signing of Berekum Chelsea midfielder Gladson Awako for a confirmed à $400,000 deal.Ã
The 22-year-old has signed a five-year deal with the Congolese giants after passing a medical on Monday.
The former Ghana Under-20 star has already begun training with the Lubumbashi-based side.
The clubââ¬â¢s Accra Representative Nana Oduro Sarfo, who led the negotiations has confirmed details have been sorted out.
ââ¬ÅI have received everything and brought it to Ghana. I received cash and so they donââ¬â¢t owe us,â⬠Sarfo told Kumasi-based Fox FM
ââ¬ÅThey paid $400,000 for his services and so we can confirm that the deal is officially concluded.
ââ¬ÅThey were initiallyà reluctant à because other clubs were prepared to take $150,000 for the services of their players.
ââ¬ÅBut we are a professional club with strong bargaining power and so we concluded on the said amount.ââ¬
The potential of the exciting former Heart of Lions pocket size midfielder has never been in doubt since he emerged on the local scene and his departure will be a massive blow to Chelsea fans.
He was a member of the Ghanaââ¬â¢s Under-20 team that clinched Africaââ¬â¢s first ever gold medal at the 2009 World Youth Championship held in Egypt.
