TP Mazembe doctors have allayed the injury fears of Ghana winger Solomon Asante after being told he can return to training on Monday.

The 24-year-old picked up a suspected knee injury during Ghana’s 3-1 win over Togo in their final 2015 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier in Tamale on Wednesday.

Fears were rife the former Berekum Chelsea man could be out for a longer period – even putting his involvement in the Nations Cup tournament in doubt.

But the skillful winger after tests on Saturday on his return to his DR Congo club has been cleared off any serious injury.

“The doctors after assessing me said I could return to training on Monday,” Asante told MTNFootball.com.

“They said it wasn’t a problem, only a shock and that I can train on Monday.”

Asante hobbled his way into the aircraft that carried the Black Stars players back to Accra after sealing qualification to the 2015 AFCON with the win over Togo.

The latest news will thus come as a massive relief to the Ghanaian fans who have appreciated Asante’s surge in form in recent times.
