Tottenham to miss out on Ghanaian whiz-kid Atsu

Porto is bent on keeping highly-rated Christian Atsu

Christian Atsu is reportedly poised to pen a new deal at Porto, forcing Tottenham to end their interest in the winger.

Contract talks between the 20-year-old and his current employers are at an advanced stage.

Porto are keen to get Atsu tied down to the fresh terms in an effort to ward off potential suitors.

The Ghana international still has 18 months left to run on his current deal, but an extension is on the table.

Porto are looking to increase Atsu’s release clause from €10million (£8m) to €30million (£24m).

Such a price tag would put Spurs out of the running for his signature, with the Premier League outfit reluctant to pay over the odds.

Atsu has impressed for Porto in the UEFA Champions and is considered to be a long-term replacement for James Rodriguez, but he is still a raw talent.

Spurs were prepared to bring his potential on board if the price was right, with Andre Villas-Boas having offered the forward his senior bow during his time at Estadio do Dragao.

They are, however, set to miss out on the services of a player who is expected to grace the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations in January.

    Atsu stay but dont let them put 30 million on you head ok . The same they did to hulk and off loaded him to useless team like Zenith , look at his situation now. Money is not everything ! wait for good club

      JOETEX IS RGHT. IF I WERE ATSU, I WOULDLEAVE AND GO TO TOTTENHAM. ATSU SHOULD BE INTIMIDATED BY THE PLAYERS AT TOTTENHAM. HE SHOULD BELIEVE IN HIS TALENT AND SKILLS. WAA LOOK AT HOW THEY DID TO HULK. SENDING HIM TO COLD RUSSIA…IF U GO TO ENGLAND, AND U ARE GOOS, U WILL GET ATTENTION. LOOK AT TETTEY. THE GUY WAS A NOBODY IN NORWAY. SOON ASHE JOINED NORWICH CITY, LOOK AT THE ATTENTION HE IS GETTING? HE IS PROLLY THE BEST MIDFIELDER IN THE EPL….

        @GH FUO…..Tettey prolly the best midfielder in the EPL? What are you smoking??? The kid is definitely good no doubt, and he’s gon get even better but don’t get ahead of yourself with your excitement!! Currently, you can’t compare him to the likes of let’s say a Yaya Toure for example, they’re just not on the same level period, end of story!! Some of us do watch most games in the EPL so stop making authoritative comments like that assuming we don’t have a clue.
