Tony Yeboah urges Atsu to consider England move

Posted On Tuesday, 31st July 2012

Christian Atsu has been urged to move to Tottenham

By Patrick Akoto

Ex-Ghana striker Tony Yeboah believes Christian Atsu will fully develop his potential if he move to England.

The 20-year-old has emerged as tug of tussle between three English sides – Tottenhamn Hotspur, Everton and Liverpool after impressing heavily during a loan spell at Rio Ave last term.

The silky FC Porto winger continues to draw penty of admirers from afar with Spurs manager Andre Villas-Boas believed to be a huge admirer of the talented player who put up an eye catching display during Ghana’s opening 2014 World Cup qualifiers against Lesotho and Zambia last month.

The former Ghana great is confident a move to England will help the player develop his career.

“I think England will be best suited for him. He can excel when he gets the chance to play for one of the sides,” Yeboah told Pravda Sports

“I don’t really know which teams are chasing him but given his talent, I have no doubt in my mind that he can make the mark there,”

“But from what I have heard the Tottenham manager wants him. If it is true, then that is one offer that he must consider seriously,”

“Because in this case, the coach is the want who want him and that makes the difference. When coaches are the ones who make the approach for players, such players are mostly guaranteed of regular playing time.”

The potential of the Ghanaian international has never been in doubt and there are many who believe he will flourish when he try his lukc at the ambitious English side.

Atsu, Warris, J Ayew, Acquah, Appiah, Salifu Amidu, Acosty, Jebbrin etc are all at 20, and Ghana want to qualify with inexperienced players? Uganda beat Ghana at junior level? This is a complete joke.
Why do we make things too difficult for ourselves?

  2. GH FUO, THINK BIG!!! says:

ATSU SHOULD GO TO LIVERPOOL. MORE YAWA OBRONI PLAYERS DEY DERE. DONT WORRY ABOUT THE MONEY LIKE FOOLISH GYAN. ONCE THE WORLD SEES U PLAYING AGGRE IN A LIVERPOOL JERSEY….EVEN THE QUEEN WILL HVE TO PAY UP TO MAKE SURE LIVERPOOL CAN RE SIGN…..

  3. D light says:

Nice advise but i believe staying at porto dis season wld do him a lot of good. He got champions league football to pluck n i think its enough reason to stay. Portuguese league is the right place 4 him to develop his career- they r skills oriented, which suits his style. He can l8ta move to the EPL as a big fish in a bigger club. My dream is to see him in a Madrid shirt. Dis will only materialise if he sticks wit porto dan move to tot’ham, who r very stern & selfish wen it comes to transfering players.

  4. Teacher Banza says:

@TT,a player at 20yrs is not an under 20 player.have you forgotten the less than and greater than mathematics that your fucking teacher taught you in primary three?

  5. Olembe. says:

Good. I hope this time the rented press will not misquote him. U see it’s time we call the spade a spade and not jux a garden tool. He played to the highest level and he can fish out potential players so he knows wht he’s talking abt. I pray tht this Atsu guy becomes even better than Tony Yeboah himself. Tony we ur fans salute u keep sharing ur opinion.

  6. Ansong says:

Tony Yeboah,Abedi Pele,Osei Kuffour and Stephen Appiah should train for UEFA coaching licence A to replace the kumasi coaches who like to play inlaws Adiyah/Afful/Boateng over Annan/Clottey/Astu.wise up*

  7. kuuku philly says:

Only if he will get playing time..

  8. bernard says:

i agree with d light if should stay at porto because neither liverpool nor tottenham are uefa.after all he is young therefore need not to rush into things.

  9. yvonne says:

All the players u mentioned wud turn 21 by the tym the actual tourney is played.

  10. Why the insults, my brothers let us pray 4 this guys rather than insulting ourselves here…

  11. Alexander Annan-Biney says:

I think Christian Atsu’s move to England is good for his personal development.

  12. Tiger year says:

No!!! There is no hurrys in life. Let him stay at Porto so that he can get more playing time to improve himself before move to CHELSEA or REAL MADRID or BARCELONA if they want him. Atsu has a bright future so we must be careful about where he should move. I strongly believe that this guy is going to become good attacker like Messi in the future.

  13. kimco says:

forget that those players mentioned won’t be eligible to play when the tourney commences,no, the real problem is that these players will be missing in action in the ayc, the actual qualifying phase. Their teams will refuse to release them. Let build a team we can get assess to anytym. Thank u.
