Tony Aidoo: NPP wasted $208b of the Ghanaian tax payer’s money

Posted On Friday, 11th May 2012

General News of Friday, 11 May 2012Source: citifmonline.com Head of Policy Monitoring and Evaluation at the presidency, Dr. Tony Aidoo has said the NDC government, unlike its opponent, is properly placed to manage the revenue from the Ghanaian tax payer.

According to him, NPP mismanaged taxes which accrued within the eight years it stayed in office. The NDC firebrand who was speaking on Citi Fm’s news analysis program, ‘Inside Politics’ says there is no justification for the huge debts left behind by the NPP despite the high revenues they accrued.

He said “for its eight years of administration, the NPP collected from Ghanaians taxes to the tune of 208 billion. For the whole of the eight years of the NDC administration it was 20 billion, a difference of almost 940%.

“The Bible says to whom more is given, most is expected. The NPP did not govern Ghana to the glory of God. When God blessed the NPP with 208 billion internal revenue, 66% debt forgiveness amounting to 4.3 billion US dollars, more than 8 billion in HIPC benefits, they still ended up accumulating debt to the tune of 7 billion US dollars.”**
