The River?s Power, a historical novel on the Akosombo Dam and Hydroelectric Power Generation has been launched in Accra.
The 474-page book gives account of the dam project, the intricacies of its financing, the problems of dam construction and the remarkable achievement of generating hydroelectric power.
The Dam?s construction displaced some 80, 000 people and flooded a number of ancestral homes.
The author, Annor Nimako explained his decision to highlight the contribution of Dr. Kwame Nkrumah towards energy was because too much emphasis had been placed on Dr. Nkrumah?s role in politics and governance.
He recalled his experiences with high profile personalities such as the late Komla Agble Gbedema and Englishman James Moxon while compiling data for the book?s publication.
The book was launched by the Chairman of the National Media Commission, Ambassador Kabral Blay- Amihere who commended the author for contributing to history.
