Ex-Hearts coach David Duncan has launched a stinging pot at Neil Armstrong Mortagbe, labeling him as a ââ¬Ëdesperateââ¬â¢ man looking for others to blame for his ineptitude.
Duncan has hit back at the current Hearts chief for claims backbiting and hypocrisy were the chief reasons for the sideââ¬â¢s unflattering campaign in the Ghanaian top-flight.
ââ¬ÅWe shouldn't allow the disunity to destroy the fortunes of our great club. In the nutshell what are we doing to ourselves because a coach (David Duncan) was sacked, I strongly à believe that shouldn't be the reason for us to practice hypocrisy andà back-biting,â⬠Mortagbe recently told supporters in Accra.
ââ¬Å I want this to stop withà regards to this. à I am urging all the ardent fans of our noble club to desist from such activities which will dent the cherished reputation of the club.
ââ¬ÅUnity is very key in the progress of an organization but currently we are lacking that unity in our great club Hearts of Oak because of hypocrisy and backbiting being exhibited by some of our fans.
"Sometimes if I sit down quietly to analyze the situation about the behavior of the supporters I feel so dishearten to the extent of even crying because the pulling down is getting worse in the club but we shouldn't forget that we are all Phobians and this club has been in existence since 1911.ââ¬
But that comment has irked Duncan, who has taken to social media to react to the claims.
ââ¬ÅThe effusions of a desperate man. Looking for someone to blame for his failings. Did those fans accused of hypocrisy and backbiting make any input in the decision you are referring to?â⬠Duncan posted on his facebook wall.
The latest outburst from the former Ashantigold trainer amplifies the tension that exists between the two men as Duncan continues to battle the club for wrongful dismissal.
Mortagbe has struggled to make Hearts giants on the domestic scene since his appointment and look destined to end another season without a silverware.
The club cannot attract quality players, leaving them to play catch-up to rivals Kotoko and other emerging forces like Medeama.
Mortagbe has been accused of being the brain behind the shocking dismissal of Duncan, prompting him to question his sincerity on his latest claims of hypocrisy and backbiting à in the club.
