Tema Youth chief Winfred Osei blasts Kwesi Appiah over Adam Kwarasey exclusion

Tema Youth CEO Winfred Osei has expressed his disappointment over the exclusion of Adam Larsen Kwarasey from Ghana’s squad for the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.

Osei argues that the Stromsgodset goalkeeper is the most active Ghanaian goalkeeper and should have earned a call-up to play Uganda and Togo next month.

It is suspected that Kwarasey has paid the fine for his tirade for his criticisms against goalkeepers’ trainer Nassam Yakubu after the World Cup.

There has been no explanation why the 26-year-old was left out of the 24-man squad.

Osei, who is a Ghana FA Executive Committee member, says there can’t be any justification for Kwarasey’s snub.

“I feel sad. I am disappointed. No one can convince me with any reasons why Kwarasey was dropped from the squad for the two qualifying games,” Osei said.

“Realistically speaking, Kwarasey has been the most active individual amongst all our goalkeepers so why drop him” he questioned the rational behind the dropping of Kwarasey.

“In terms of goalkeeping, we all know he is ahead of all the three goalkeepers because he is more consistent and active than all the three who have been invited.”

Fool form your own national team and invite him. A player who hides injury. Wants ball to go only on his right. He is exposed.

  3. Benny says:

I am not surprised at all.AA is a very vindictive persona. Its only a matter of time.

  4. mike2020 says:

Hey the greatest or whatever your name is, you are a fool to say that. Do you have proof of him hiding his injuries,And if you do” why didn’t you make it public for Ghanaians to about it. Instead Of You going Around And Soils Other People’s Name And Reputation, Why Don’t Find Something Do .

Akwasi Appiah is ruling Ghana Black Stars with iron fit hands. Once a player disagrees with him, count yourself out of BS selection. Is it the way to lead a team? Success is any human endeavour is based on leadership. There are other factors like, information, preparation, organization, communication, motivation and execution – also contribute to success, but the effectiveness of these is entirely determined by the quality of leadership provided. Battles or competitions are won by the organistion or person who, first, has the greatest competitive advantage and who, second, makes the fewest mistakes.
AA lacks leadership character. Until he built a strong character that allows all inclusive behaiviour of all players that promotes, unity and a sense of purpose Ghana Black Stars will continue to grope in competitive darkness under Coach Akwasi Appiah. In Chinese philosophy, character is the foundation of leadership. Character cannot be developed overnight. Hence, people who want to lead like AA must cultivate a characteristics of leadership. Much as we will not condone with any behaiviour that will be detrimental to the progress of the team on the part of any player, the trainer must not be over critical and biased towards some players who questions his skills and knowledge of the game. These boys are exposed to scientific and modern football techniques so if they express doubts about ones’ competence, that should not mean sending them to the abattoir or excluded from the team.

can anyone name any player who criticised his coach and was invited by the same coach.especially when he is not at the level of courtios, cech, enyema etc

can anyone name any player who criticised his coach publicly and was invited by the same coach in subsequent matches.especially when he is not at the level of courtios, cech, enyema etc

  12. Bayor says:

It’s clear that local coach can never manage our Black stars..can’t a player question his coach tactics? You see black mentality will always take things personal and that cannot be a character to lead our players because they are all professionals

  13. dr edusei. usa says:

who still invites dauda. i can not forget a goal he gifted to ronaldo in the world cup when we still had a chance to go through. such a useless goalie. he saves a ball and celebrate in the post.

  14. Cookes says:

The goalkeeping situation is dear to some of us. Kwarasey is the best among the current crop we have. Build him up. Not tear him down. None of the current keepers can play in the premier division of any European league. Let’s be visionary and develop Kwarasey for the future.

Kwarasey needs to up his game because his performances for the national team leaves much to be desired! He has been very AVERAGE for Ghana and that’s the absolute TRUTH!

Is about time we call a spade,a spadr and not another big spoon! He is OVEERATED and I don’t care whether u agreed with me or not!

Yes he has the potential to be great but his performances doesn’t speak volume the noise we are saddled with everyday by his supporters!

Of course, if we want to talk about the WEAKEST LINK in our team, his one of our weakest link togather with our central defenders and that’s a fact!

He needs to be up and doing and that’s the absolute TRUTH!

  18. selfmade says:

No profession player can tell his country technical crew who he wants to work with! This is ridiculous and he should bow his head in shame!

I dont think he can do that in his Norwegian club as that ll led him to be sidelined or fine!!

WE AREN’T GOING TO TOLERATE THAT ANYMORE!

  19. Anokwale says:

Let us be real here. Kwarasey is the best goalie BUT Appiah has to discipline players who try to belittle him or his staff. The GFA is the problem but the players should have hired a player rep to make sure all was in order long before they jumped on the plane to that Netherlands friendly.

  20. selfmade says:

Kwarasey is not our best keeper! With the exception of the Brazilian game where he had a virtuous performance for us, all his other performances for us leaves much to be desired and very AVERAGE! PERIOD!

He is very suspect with aerial balls, has bad timing esp with set pieces, poor judgment with respect to long drives and has a poor defensive clearance and I know that real, unbiased bloggers ll bear me out!

We want to do a fair comparison of kwarasey to some of the finest African goalkeepers, kwarasey is very AVERAGE unless u are among the vain glory seekers!

Constructive criticisms can help him develop to become a more better keeper but what I see from bloggers over here is mere glorification of a very average keeper who has performed abysmally for the national team!

I don’t even understand why people compare dauda and kwarasey because the latter according to his fans is the best so why do the comparison then! Double standard!!!

He has been great for his club and his is very patriotic guy but his perfoances for our nation has been pathetic and abysmal and I know is the absolute truth!!

We should stop singing praises to our players and critise them constructively so that they become even better!
