Talented youngster Baba Rahman on Schalke 04 radar

Posted On Saturday, 16th February 2013

Baba Abdul Rahman

Schalke 04 are said to be monitoring Ghana youth defender Baba Abdul Rahman who has been impressive in the Bundesliga on his debut season, the SportBild has reported.

The left-back has come on in leaps and bounds in the second half of the Bundesliga season for Greuther Furth.

Rahman profited from the injury to experienced defender Henry Schmidtgal and gone on to make seven Bundesliga appearances.

His coach Mike Büskens has rated him among the best talents in the world.

With Greuther Furth struggling to remain in the top-flight, the former Asante Kotoko player could be whisked away by a stellar club in the summer.

Rahman’s five-year contract with Greuther Furth expire on 30 June, 2017.

  1. SABATO says:

AA, are u saying u still cant get left back 4 BS? u ar joking. Rahman is 19. Its about building confidence in a young star and encouraging him. Keshi took a 19 year old local defender to Afcon and he excelled. Masawudu Alhasan played in almost all the matches at Afcon 2012 and gained enough experience. why do u leave such a young player out, when u claim u ar re- building.Only God knows the motive behind those selection. Wise up AA

  2. SABATO says:

David Addy too is a quality player. AA made a big mistake by taking those strikers to Afcon whilst leaving out A.M. Warris, Jordan and Affum. AA played Warris as a lone striker in a match agst a disciplined C. Verde side for 45 min and and thought that was enough to draw conclusion on Warris. Have u forgotten so soon how A.Gyan was given time and patience to mature when he was misfiring. Ralf Zumdick and later Barreto gave him confidence at 19, and that made Asamoah. young players needs encouragement and not lampooning.

  3. keith from germany says:

sabato i second u.im not a person who criticize coaches anybody on this forum who nkws me will bear me witness but akwesi appiah is techniacally bankrupt.how can u play k.asamoah at left back in a tough game against burkina faso?
ITS like u a taking the engine from a car.
im very surprised nobody was talking about warris exclusion from the squad.
how can AA take only 45 minutes against cabo verde in a friendly in portugal to judge this diamond of a talent?
anybody who watched that game saw that derek boateng messed up.he didnt supply warris with the ball.the likes of boateng n alfred duncan were losing possesions in midfield.how can warris score if they dont feed him?
as for baba abdul rahman, the earlier u call him the better.this boy will be the solution to thde stars left back position.
eventhough harrison afful did well, left back is not his position.
it will be a wonder if ghana qualifies to the wc 2014 in brasilia.
    WE LIVE TO SEE.

  4. Dr Who says:

@Ghanaman,when did K Asamoah played the left back position with Sulley & Essien in the midfield?…K Asamoah is not useful at the left back position.During the AFCON,we played him at the left back position against DR Congo and Burkina.Did we win those matches? K Asamoah is more useful upfront than as a defender because of his creativity.
