Emmanuel Tagoe has officially signed onto the Baby Jet Management and Boxing Promotions.

The 24-year-old became the first Ghanaian boxer to sign onto the boxing label owned by Ghana captain Asamoah Gyan.

Tagoe, popularly known as Game Boy earned the deal after beating local rival George Ashie in the maiden bout put together by the Baby Jet Promotions last year.

The agreement sees Tagoe benefit from an elaborate plan geared towards making him a world champion by the end of the year.

Ghana is currently without a boxing world champion and this is what the Baby Jet Promotions aim at changing by the end of the year.

“We believe that for a boxer to be able to get to the next level he needs to be exposed to superior training facilities and that doesn’t come better than in the US,” Samuel Anim-Addo, Chief Executve of the Asamoah Gyan Foundation – the Parent Body of Baby Jet Promotions said at the signing on ceremony on Wednesday.

“We will be preparing a fight for him (Tagoe) by May to keep him in shape before taking him to the US for an intensive training program.

“He will then be made to defend the title he won after beating George Ashie here in Accra after which we will prepare a World title fight for him in November.

“This elaborate program is geared towards producing a world champions for Ghana.

“It has been a while since Ghana won a World title and we aim to restore this pride in Ghanaians.”

Tagoe also takes delivery of a new Toyota Venza saloon car as part of his professional deal with Baby Jet Promotions.

He thanked the stables’ management for the confidence reposed in him and pledged to do his best to repay the faith by winning a world title for Ghana.

“I want to thank officials of Baby Jet Promotions especially Asamoah Gyan and Baffour Gyan,” he said.

“I had never received a penny since starting my boxing career but today things have changed.

“We were just escorting Gyan to the airport when a car passed by and I opined my wish to have such a car.

“They immediately stopped the car, asked of the price of the passing car and to my amazement paid $45,000 for the car for me.

“I want to thank everyone who has encouraged me in my career.

“This is the way professional boxing should go and Asamoah Gyan and his team have opened the way.

“I have therefore nothing to do other than make them and every Ghanaian proud by winning a world title in the near future.

“Once I see a world title which shines, be rest assured I will grab it.”

The deal whose monetary value remains concealed is for a three year period with the right of renewal vested in Baby Jet Promotions.

The deal also sees Tagoe become part of a campaign to promote Vits Instant Noodles in especially the indegenous Ga localities.

Asamoah Gyan who plays his club football in the UAE with Al Ain is using boxing as part of his social responsibilities amongst other things he is doing with his foundation.
