Swiss side FC Sion make Ishmael Yartey bid

Posted On Wednesday, 20th June 2012

Ishmael Yartey had a successful loan spell at FC Servette

Swiss Super League side FC Sion have officially made a bid to sign Ghana winger Ishmael Yartey, MTNFootball can reveal.

Yartey’s parent club Benfica have called him back from a successful loan spell at Swiss side Servette.

The 22-year-old scored twice against Sion whose coach Sébastien Fournier believes he could be key in his bid to secure European football at the club.

FC Sion suffered points deduction last season but managed to escape relegation and have acquired AC Milan legend Gennaro Gattuso.

French Ligue 1 sides Lille, Olympique Marseille, Dutch side AZ Alkmaar and German side Borussia Monchengladbach have emerged as possible suitors for Yartey.

Servette held talks with the player on Tuesday for him to remain at the club.

Yartey scored eight goals for Servette last season.
